Job summary

Iowa Department of Education’s Bureau of Nutrition and Health Services seeks a Program Planner 3 (Procurement & Application Specialist) to provide technical assistance, monitoring and support to operators of USDA Child Nutrition Programs.

The role includes statewide monitoring, handling pre-approval processes, and ensuring compliance with federal requirements, with travel as needed and opportunities to collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in overseeing USDA Child Nutrition Programs or similar regulatory programs.
• Ability to interpret and apply federal regulations to program operations.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform statewide monitoring of USDA Child Nutrition Programs to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Draft and complete reports of monitoring results with corrective action recommendations.
• Review and approve organization corrective action responses.
• Serve as the application coordinator for the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
• Track, review and approve pre-approval documents and annual program applications.
• Assist with organizational administration of all Child Nutrition Programs.
• Gather and analyze supporting data from spreadsheets, surveys and other sources.
• Develop and update procedures, forms and flow charts.
