As the Purchasing and Contract Specialist for UAS, you will oversee the creation of purchase orders and provide training on requisition entry and centralized blanket orders. You will be a key member of the team that develops contracts, solicitations, and monitors vendor performance. The incumbent will handle informal solicitations for larger transactions while ensuring compliance and cost efficiency.
To thrive in this role, the successful applicant must have outstanding interpersonal and conflict resolution skills and experience using database programs and applications. The incumbent must have experience in decision making, analytical thinking, and basic accounting procedures. Knowledge of public procurement practices and ethics is preferred.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years of public procurement experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 78, based on education and experience.
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Juneau. The University of Alaska reserves the right to require employees to work on-site at University of Alaska facilities. Hybrid work may be approved for employees at the discretion of the University.
