Job summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support its growing portfolio of programs. You will serve as a key liaison between Procurement, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing, ensuring timely and cost-effective sourcing for high-visibility projects.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with purchasing experience, strong communication, vendor negotiation, and proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, and Excel. Travel to project sites and vendors may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree; equivalent combination allowed.
  • Experience sourcing and negotiating contracts with OEMs, construction/subcontractors, and fabricators.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles.

  • Procurement planning during bidding, including contract specs, BOMs, and vendor prequalification.
  • Negotiate and finalize supplier agreements.
  • Post-award procurement planning and implementation.
  • Coordinate with project teams and suppliers; monitor market conditions.

Responsibilities

As a Purchasing Agent supporting MC Dean\'s growing businesses, your role will include:

  • Functioning as a key liaison between the Procurement team and internal stakeholders including MC Dean\'s Executive Team, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Working closely with the core Program/Project teams to manage high visibility and high value programs, applying program/project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of MC Dean\'s portfolio of projects.
Key Responsibilities
  1. Procurement planning during the bidding phase
    • Understanding contract specifications and bills of material
    • Sourcing, identifying, and prequalifying vendors; developing comprehensive RFPs
    • Analyzing multiple quotes (scope leveling); working with project and engineering team to confirm completeness of scope of service and supply
    • Negotiating and finalizing agreements
    • Developing the Procurement Plan
    • Post-award, managing plan implementation
  2. Post-award procurement planning and implementation on major projects and programs
    • Transferring bid phase documents and knowledge to the project team
    • Engaging with the project team on procurement planning & implementation
    • Capturing and communicating market intelligence across projects & programs
  3. Understanding, evaluating, and incorporating current market conditions into procurement plans, including but not limited to:
    • Pricing trends
    • Lead times and logistical requirements
    • Best value opportunities
    • Alternative products opportunities (Material cost/Labor savings)
    • Evolving contract compliance requirements
  4. Reading, understanding, and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
  5. Traveling to project sites, manufacturers, and vendors as needed
Required Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor\'s degree plus 0 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Relevant Purchasing experience sourcing, negotiating contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturers, construction /specialty trade subcontractors and fabricators.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles.
