Job summary

M.C. Dean is hiring a Purchasing Agent to support procurement across executive, engineering, sales and manufacturing teams. You will manage bid-phase procurement planning, vendor prequalification, and contract negotiations to ensure timely project execution.

Responsibilities include post-award procurement planning, market intelligence sharing, and travel to project sites as needed. Strong communication, leadership, and accounting familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Relevant purchasing experience sourcing, negotiating contracts with OEMs, construction/subcontractors and fabricators.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as liaison between the Procurement team and internal stakeholders including MC Dean's Executive Team, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with Program/Project teams to manage high visibility and high value programs for timely execution.
  • Procurement planning during bidding phase; understand contracts, BOMs, and vendor quotes.
  • Source, identify, prequalify vendors; develop comprehensive RFPs and analyze quotes for scope.
  • Negotiate and finalize supplier agreements; develop and manage Procurement Plan.
  • Post-award procurement planning and implementation on major projects and programs.
  • Transfer bid documents to project team and communicate market intelligence across projects.
  • Assess market conditions: pricing trends, lead times, logistics, and best value opportunities.
  • Read and interpret contract documents, drawings, specs, and schedules; travel as needed.

Responsibilities

As a Purchasing Agent supporting MC Dean's growing business, your role will include:

  • Functioning as a key liaison between the Procurement team and internal stakeholders including MC Dean's Executive Team, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.
  • Working closely with core Program/Project teams to manage high visibility and high value programs, applying program/project management skills to assure the timely and efficient execution of MC Dean's portfolio of projects.
  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Procurement planning during the bidding phase
    • Understanding contract specifications and bills of material
    • Sourcing, identifying, and prequalifying vendors; developing comprehensive RFPs
    • Analyzing multiple quotes (scope leveling) and working with project and engineering teams to confirm completeness of scope of service and supply
    • Negotiating and finalizing agreements
    • Developing the Procurement Plan
    • Post-award, managing plan implementation
  • Post-award procurement planning and implementation on major projects and programs
    • Transferring bid phase documents and knowledge to the project team
    • Engaging with the project team on procurement planning & implementation
    • Capturing and communicating market intelligence across projects & programs
  • Understanding, evaluating, and incorporating current market conditions into procurement plans, including but not limited to:
  • Pricing trends
  • Lead times and logistical requirements
  • Best value opportunities
  • Alternative products opportunities (material cost/labor savings)
  • Evolving contract compliance requirements
  • Reading, understanding, and interpreting contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules.
  • Traveling to project sites, manufacturers, and vendors as needed
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree plus 2 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • Relevant Purchasing experience sourcing, negotiating contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturers, construction /specialty trade subcontractors and fabricators.
  • Proven written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with accounting principles.
