Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a part-time Sterile Processing Professional to decontaminate, assemble, sterilize and distribute instruments and supplies for patient care. The role requires attention to infection control, safety policies, and teamwork within a busy environment.

Qualifications

• Requires ability to read, write and understand English and communicate effectively with patients, visitors, staff and physicians.
• Minimum of 6 months experience with surgical instruments and assisting in patient care preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and make decisions without supervision as part of a team.
• Ability to perform under stressful situations and prioritize urgent department needs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, surgical instruments and sterilization principles.

Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

Furnishes sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment and services for the care and treatment of patients. Adheres to MercyOne’s performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of MercyOne.

What you will Do:

• Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.
• Prepares non-sterile portable equipment and supplies for use.
• Instrument assembly: Inspects and assembles instruments in accordance with Pick card
• Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
• Sterilization of equipment: Loads and unloads sterilization cart and stores items in proper location.
• Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Hours/Schedule:

will include a weekend and holiday rotation;
