Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa in Waterloo, IA is seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician to support patient care by furnishing sterile and non-sterile supplies, equipment and services.

Day shift, full-time position with weekend and holiday rotation. You will decontaminate equipment, assemble instruments, and ensure sterile processing standards are met in a safe, patient-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, write and understand English.
• Minimum of 6 months experience with surgical instruments and assisting in patient care preferred.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and to communicate effectively with patients and staff.
• Ability to make decisions without supervision and work as part of a team.
• Ability to perform under stressful situations and prioritize urgent department needs.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and sterilization principles.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminates dirty equipment and supplies.

• Instrument assembly: Inspects and assembles instruments in accordance with Pick card
• Distributes and stores sterile supplies.
