Job summary

Moderna Therapeutics in Norwood, MA is seeking an Engineer II to support pilot-scale nucleic acid and formulated nucleic acid product operations. The role involves transferring processes from bench to pilot scale, generating DNA/RNA/LNP/DP for developmental/tox studies, and enabling filings.

On-site at Moderna's Technology Center campus, you’ll lead tech transfer activities and drive robust, scalable processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Engineering
2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's or minimal experience with a Master's
On-site role; not eligible for remote work

Responsibilities

Lead or contribute to tech transfer, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Serve as a batch lead, troubleshoot in real time to ensure successful outcomes.
Propose and implement solutions to technical challenges and deviations.
Collaborate across Process Development, Analytical, and other teams to support tech transfer and robustness.
Distill batch-related data to inform process improvements and decisions.
Author and optimize SOPs/protocols, and support training of team members.
Provide operational leadership during batches and guide junior team members.
Apply operational excellence to improve workflows, lab organization, and execution efficiency.
Identify and mitigate safety, process, and operational risks; escalate when needed.
Maintain GDP, safety procedures, and environmental compliance.
