Job summary

The Process Technology Director will provide strategic leadership across mineral processing, process innovation and operational performance for a global mining portfolio. You will shape technology strategies, lead multidisciplinary teams and drive capital projects, with a focus on recovery, throughput and cost performance.

You will manage feasibility studies, test work, and implementation of new processing methods, while collaborating with operations, engineering partners and external research

Qualifications

• Degree in metallurgical or chemical engineering or related technical discipline.
• Extensive mineral processing and extractive metallurgy experience in resources.
• Proven track record leading complex technical projects and improving operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement process technology strategies aligned with long-term business objectives.
• Identify opportunities to improve metallurgical performance, operational efficiency and asset value.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions for operational excellence and future growth.
• Provide expert technical guidance on processing challenges across multiple operations.
• Lead development and optimisation of mineral processing flowsheets for existing and future operations.
• Support process design, plant expansions, and technical evaluations.
• Oversee metallurgical test work, ore characterisation programmes and investigations.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance recovery, throughput, reliability and cost performance.
• Lead multidisciplinary technical projects from concept through implementation.
• Collaborate with engineering partners, operations and project teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Monitor project performance, manage risks and report to executives.
• Support business cases for strategic investment opportunities.
• Champion innovation and knowledge sharing across the organisation.
• Assess new technologies for operational application.
• Promote collaboration with research institutions and industry partners.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Technical Leadership

• Develop and implement process technology strategies aligned with long-term business objectives.

• Lead the development and optimisation of mineral processing flowsheets for both existing and future operations.
• Support process design, plant expansion studies and technical evaluations.
• Oversee metallurgical test work, ore characterisation programmes and technical investigations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance recovery, throughput, reliability and cost performance.

Project Leadership

• Lead multidisciplinary technical projects from concept through implementation.
• Work closely with engineering partners, operations and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor project performance, manage technical risks and communicate progress to executive stakeholders.
• Support the development of business cases for strategic investment opportunities.

Innovation & Technology

• Champion innovation and continuous improvement across the organisation.
• Assess new technologies and processing methodologies for operational application.
• Foster collaboration with research institutions, technology providers and industry partners.

Qualifications:

• A degree in Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Required Skills:

• Extensive experience in mineral processing, extractive metallurgy or process engineering within the resources sector.
• Deep technical knowledge across multiple processing disciplines, including plant optimisation, comminution, flotation, hydrometallurgy, process modelling and metallurgical accounting.
• Demonstrated success leading complex technical projects and operational improvement initiatives.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance technical excellence with business outcomes.
• Outstanding leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams across geographically dispersed operations.
• A willingness to travel internationally as required.
