Job description

The Company:

Solestial, Inc. is a space-based solar energy company. Solestial’s core technology is a breakthrough ultra-thin silicon solar cell that can self-cure radiation damage at normal operating temperatures in space, packaged in a flexible, lightweight panel designed to achieve minimal degradation for up to 10 years in LEO. Solestial panels can be mass-produced using automated machines, resulting in costs 90% lower than incumbent technologies, with virtually unlimited manufacturing capacity. From satellite constellations and research projects to utility-scale space energy infrastructure, Solestial is powering the new space economy.

The Role:

As a Process Technician (Night Shift) at Solestial, you will process ultra-thin solar cells following baseline procedures. Responsibilities include safely operating R&D equipment to run production lots, troubleshooting tool failures, and assisting process engineers in transferring R&D processes to large-scale manufacturing tools. For large-scale lines, technicians will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose alarms, conduct quality control, and work with hand tools and systems during operations.

This position offers the opportunity to be part of a supportive, passionate team with a competitive compensation package, including equity and full benefits.

Your Mission:
  • Work Monday-Friday, 6pm-2am.
  • Operate tools safely to maintain quality and fulfill orders under supervision.
  • Follow training and procedures, and collaborate with team members and supervisors.
  • Monitor equipment parameters and alarms.
  • Characterize processed solar cells (e.g., Sinton lifetime, photoluminescence).
  • Monitor process data, maintain records, and escalate issues appropriately.
  • Collaborate with engineers on problem-solving.
  • Communicate effectively during shift changes.
  • Work independently in a R&D manufacturing environment.
  • Perform mechanical maintenance using hand tools and measurement devices.
  • Adhere to safety standards and maintain a clean workspace.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
  • High school diploma or GED; STEM certification preferred.
  • Ability to work night shifts and in a clean room environment.
  • Adaptability to a dynamic environment and safety compliance.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects and stand/sit for extended periods.
  • Basic troubleshooting, problem-solving skills, and clear communication.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Experience in clean room environments and solar/electronics manufacturing is a plus.
Our Benefits:
  • Competitive salary + equity.
  • High-quality medical, dental, and vision coverage from day one.
  • 15 PTO days, holiday break, and 10 paid holidays annually.
  • 401K with employer match up to 4%.
  • Employer-paid disability and life insurance.
  • Opportunity to contribute to space-based solar energy!
