Job summary

Thunderbird is seeking a Process Technician to optimize production processes and implement corrective measures for discrepancies while ensuring high-quality injection molded parts in a safe environment.

You will set up molding machines, monitor parameter windows, coordinate with QC, and support continuous improvement initiatives across multiple mold systems and robots. This role requires hands-on manufacturing experience and strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Process Technician preferred.
Train machine operators on molding operation requirements.
Know proper purging methods for material changes.
Ability to achieve quality parts with optimized cycle times and minimal scrap.
Injection molding processing experience on presses.
Experience with Paulson Training or RJG processing methods is desired.
Experience with multiple mold machines and robots for injection molding.

Responsibilities

Operate machine start up and shutdowns; perform adjustments; maintain equipment to meet safety and quality requirements.
Set up molding machines to predefined conditions and validated operating parameters.
Maintain optimal flow of produced products in production.
Collaborate with QC to resolve non-conforming product challenges.
Ensure process parameters stay within predefined windows daily.
Report changes in cycle times to scheduling.
Clean and set up auxiliary equipment; maintain machine area cleanliness.
Consult with supervisor on technical issues; address mold issues promptly.

Process Technician Position Overview

The Process Technician is responsible for optimization of the production processes and implementing sustainablecorrective measures for process discrepancies while producing high quality injection molded parts at a rate as setforth by company standards and customer specifications in a safe manner.

Process Technician Essential Functions

Responsible for operating machine(s) start up and shutdowns, performing machine adjustments, andmaintaining all equipment to meet Safety and Quality requirements.
Perform process set-up of molding machines to the predefined condition and ensure that the machines areoperating under validated operating parameters.
Responsible for maintaining the optimal flow of produced products in production.
Work closely with QC to resolve any non-conforming product challenges through effectivecommunication.
Responsible for ensuring that all process parameters are within the predefined process window daily.
Responsible for reporting changing status of cycle times to scheduling.
Clean and set up auxiliary equipment.
Maintain housekeeping of machines and work area.
Consult and work with team supervisor on all technical issues.
Notify persons in charge of any non-standard or sub-performance operation or mold issues and quality andsafety issues.
Ensure safety adherence.
Ensure that established policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are understood and followed.
Participate in all training programs.

Process Technician Required Experience

Proven experience as a Process Technician preferred.
Train machine operators on the necessities of their current molding operation.
Possess proper purging methods for material changes.
Possess processing skills to achieve quality parts, optimized cycle times and scrap minimization.
Injection Molding processing experience on presses.
Experience with Paulson Training or RJG processing methods is desired.
Experience working with a variety of mold machines.
Experience working with a variety of robots for injection molding machines.
Experience working with a variety of different mold concepts (cold and hot runner systems, multi platemolds, hyd. cores, slides, valve gates, etc.).
Experience in processing different types of custom resins.
Experienced knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice within the Medical or Food Industry.
Experience working with Decoupled Molding and an understanding of Scientific Injection Molding (SIM).
Experience working in a fast-paced operational environment with constant interaction with operators,technicians, peers, and managers.
Experience in problem solving and troubleshooting of processes and process equipment secondaryoperation.

Process Technician Physical Demands and Work Environment

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
The employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Frequently required lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
Frequently required standing, bending, squatting, and reaching with hands and arms.
Regularly required to stand for extended periods, walk, talk, and hear.
Ability to use hand tools.
Ability to read applicable instructions.
