Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an Injection Molding Set-Up Technician in Greeneville, TN to set up, start up and maintain molding machines, ensuring quality and on-time delivery. You will troubleshoot processes, perform mold changes, and coordinate with Material Handlers and Operators to ensure materials are available.

The role requires 1-2 years in molding or related fields, strong mechanical aptitude, and ability to work O/T. Proficiency with Windows/Excel/Word is valued.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance of injection molding machines to satisfactorily accomplish quality and on-time delivered products to customers.
• Set-up and start-up of injected molding machines.
• Applies injection molding principles and molding theories to troubleshoot and process molding operations.
• Performs mold and color changes on injection machines.
• Works with Material Handlers and Machine Operators to ensure raw materials are available.
• Monitors machine operation for ISO, health, safety, quality, and efficiency standards; leads continuous improvements.
• Collaborates with production management to review and organize production activities.
• Identifies and resolves equipment and quality problems with Tool Room, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering teams.
• Evaluates scrap reduction techniques within the work cell.
• Monitors and documents daily process conditions; logs changes and drafts detailed mold repair information.
• Ensures safety, cleanliness, and organization of work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary:

Responsible for determining and implementing best manufacturing practices for current and future production related to set-up, start-up, processing, and maintenance of injection molding machines to satisfactorily accomplish quality and on-time delivered products to customers. Adheres to all plant and OSHA safety policies and regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Maintenance of injection molding machines to satisfactorily accomplish quality and on-time delivered products to customers.
• Set-up and start-up of injected molding machines.
• Applies injection molding principles and molding theories to troubleshoot and process molding operations.
• Performs mold and color changes on injection machines.
• Works with Material Handlers and Machine Operators to make sure raw materials within the work cell are readily available.
• Monitors machine operation for compliance to all ISO, health, safety, quality, and efficiency standards; analyze and lead continuous improvements.
• Works with production management to review and organize production activities.
• Collaborates with Tool Room, Quality, Maintenance and Engineering teams to identify and resolve equipment and quality problems within molding cell.
• Evaluates scrap reduction techniques within work cell.
• Monitors and documents daily process conditions; logging changes and drafting detailed mold repair work information form sheets
• Ensures safety, cleanliness, and organization of work area.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an injection molding setup technician and/or process technician role required.
• Hands-on experience performing complete mold changes, machine start-ups, process adjustments, and troubleshooting injection molding processes required.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, analytical mindset, reasoning abilities and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to train new Mold Setters as needed.
• Can successfully act as backup Mold Setter.
• Good training and leadership skills; team-oriented.
• Highly motivated.
• Computer proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word.
• Ability to read and write English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 1-2 years of injection molding experience required (or prior external experience).

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand entire shift (8+ hrs.).
• Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
• Requires manual dexterity.
• Moderate physical demand involving lifting and moving of materials and equipment.
• Frequently moves from waist level to floor level.

Monday - Friday; 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM. Must be able to work overtime.
