Job summary

Hubbell Incorporated in North Carolina seeks a Process Technician- Injection Molding for 2nd shift to optimize, troubleshoot and maintain molding processes, ensuring quality and uptime in a fast-paced plastics operation.

You will collaborate with operators, engineers and maintenance, perform mold changeovers, document first articles, monitor cycles and temperatures, and support safety and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Trade School or an Associates degree in maintenance is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in maintenance, injection plastics processing or related industry is required.
• Able to be licensed to operate material handling equipment.
• Ability to stand, climb stairs and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Compliance with OSHA Health and Safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform mold changeovers and ensure the area is ready for volume production.
• Support Quality with first article inspection documentation for start-ups.
• Monitor production and adjust the process; watch mold and water temperatures.
• Ensure cycles are within documentation; confirm operators can keep up.
• Perform minor changeovers like insert changes, color changes and material mix adjustments.
• Troubleshoot with maintenance and tooling groups to keep machines running.
• Assist with machine start-up and shutdown per production schedule.
• Ensure auxiliary equipment operates correctly and report issues.
• Promote safety at all times and collaborate with Engineering on special projects.
• Provide breaks for operators and support material handling as needed.

Job description

Process Technician- Injection Molding - 2nd Shift

The Injection Molding Process Technician is a key member of the manufacturing team responsible for optimizing, troubleshooting and maintaining injection molding processes to ensure high-quality production, efficiency and minimizing downtime. This hands-on technical role focuses on process setup, parameter optimization, mold and material handling, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced plastics manufacturing operation.

You will work closely with production operators, engineers, quality assurance and maintenance teams to deliver consistent output that meets or exceeds our specifications, safety standards, and production targets. This position plays a critical role in supporting OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvements, scrap reduction and new product launches for HDPE and PP structural foam components for our enclosures division.

This position will be a 2nd shift position with a work schedule of Monday to Friday 2:00pm to 10:15pm as well as overtime as needed on weekends.

An initial training period will be required on 1st shift for a minimum of 6 to 8 weeks.

• Performing mold changeover start-ups and ensuring the production area is prepared for volume production.
• Support Quality in documenting the first article inspection for start-ups and release to production.
• Monitoring production by performing periodic checks of the parts and adjusting the process as needed. Monitor mold and water temperatures
• Ensuring the process is producing in the documented cycle times and ensuring the operators are capable of keeping up with production
• Performing minor changeovers such as insert changes, color changes and material mix adjustments.
• Working with the maintenance and tooling group with troubleshooting the equipment and ensuring the machine is functioning properly.
• Assisting with machine start-up and shut down according to the published production schedule.
• Ensuring auxiliary support equipment is operating correctly and alerting maintenance to issues identified.
• Practicing and promoting safety at all times.
• Working with Engineering and the mold shop on special projects as needed.
• Operating equipment to provide breaks for operators as needed.
• Material Handling as needed.
