Description:

Position will be 100% onsite in Concord, NC

Scope of Position:

Performs a variety of technical duties and activities including experiment management and execution, collection of data from manufacturing process, data analysis, and equipment management. May work with personnel from development, engineering, and operations, using measurement or customer data to help engineers resolve issues, improve manufacturing yields, and develop new processes or products.

Major Responsibilities:

• Works with teams focused on product and process innovation, cost reduction projects, etc.
• Develops and executes experiments to develop and integrate new processes & products into production.
• Engages in innovation projects to enable new products, reduce costs, downtime, and defects, and increase yields.
• Operates measurement devices and collects data to support product or process understanding.
• Trains and coaches new development, engineering, and operations personnel on equipment and processes.
• Interprets data from equipment used in key processes to identify and solve problems.
• Contributes to project plans by identifying resources and providing realistic timelines.
• May write documentation related to processes, products, or equipment.

Travel Requirements:

Up to 25% domestic travel possible to Wilmington, NC.

Hours of Work/Schedule:

Monday - Friday (40 hours) + overtime as needed. Typical hours are 8AM – 5PM, with possible off-shift work.

Required Education and Experience:

• B.S. or Associate's Degree in a technical/science field.
• 1-5 years experience in technician roles.
• Mechanical/process aptitude with ability to design/fabricate experimental equipment/tools.
• Knowledge of fiber-making and processing equipment, including FTIR benches, microscopes, coating/ink equipment, optical fiber measurement benches, screeners, and coloring machines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
