Job summary

Oldcastle Infrastructure is seeking a Process Technician for 2nd shift to ensure maximum uptime of production molding machines and quality conformity. You will diagnose issues, perform adjustments, and coordinate with maintenance and material handlers to sustain efficient production.

The role requires extensive plastics processing experience, strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and the ability to work across teams while lifting up to 40 lbs.

Qualifications

• Experience in mold changes, hydraulics, electrical, and polymers/resins processing.
• Understanding of injection molding machinery and related processes.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis abilities.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and communicate clearly.

Responsibilities

• Initiates the start of molding machines to support on-time production targets.
• Troubleshoots machine malfunctions and applies adjustments as needed.
• Records machine issues and adjustments with detail for quality tracking.
• Communicates raw material changes to material handlers to improve efficiency.
• Conducts test runs to verify adjustments meet quality standards.
• Changes machine inserts to match customer specifications.
• Notifies Maintenance Technician of issues needing a fix.
• Identifies parts or machines needing replacement and places orders.
• Assembles new or modified components under supervision of a technical manager.
• Performs analyses and suggests changes to equipment or methods.
• Assists on-shift supervisor with operator assignments and workflow.
• Assists Materials Handlers with material issue troubleshooting.

Ensures maximum uptime of production molding machines by diagnosing and addressing quality issues and variations from customer specifications due to molding machines, processes, materials, or operator interactions.

Job Responsibilities

• Initiates the start of molding machines and ensures proper functionality to support the on-time completion of production targets
• Troubleshoots molding machine malfunctions or bottlenecks that can be corrected by material changes or process adjustments
• Records the details of machine malfunctions and the appropriate adjustments as required
• Communicates and verifies necessary raw material adjustments to material handlers to improve production efficiency and accuracy
• Conducts test runs of process or machine adjustments to ensure proper machine functionality and alignment with quality standards
• Routinely changes machine inserts to customize product wording or labeling in accordance with customer specifications
• Notifies a Maintenance Technician of a machine electrical, pneumatic or hydraulic issue or problems that may require a fabricated solution
• Identifies parts or machines that need new parts or need to be replaced and places orders as necessary
• Assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies under the guidance of a technical Manager
• Performs routine analyses and calculations, and recommends changes in equipment, products or test methods
• Assists the on-shift supervisor with assigning operators to machines and provides direction to Machine Operator as to machine cycle time and operating multiple machines at a time
• Assists Material Handlers with troubleshooting material issues

Job Requirements

• E xperience in mold changes, hydraulics, electrical, an understanding of polymers and resins, processing and injection mold machinery
• Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting using root cause analysis
• Understands and is familiar with developing processes using Decoupled Molding
• Familiar with open/close loop process controls
• Good interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work well with others, exhibiting teamwork skills
• At least 5 years of experiencein plastics processing
• Ability tolift up to 40 lbs.
