Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Process Technician I to perform chemical processing of aircraft parts and assemblies on a state-of-the-art anodize line. This onsite role requires following strict specifications, maintaining safety, and documenting processes to meet customer standards.

Work will occur on the 4th shift (Friday through Sunday, 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM) with opportunities in a growing manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. GED) required.
  • Process technician experience preferred.
  • Must be able to work 4th shift (Fri–Sun 6:00–18:30).

Responsibilities

  • Perform chemical processing of parts and assemblies to current specs.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Maintain awareness of chemicals used and related safety procedures.
  • Follow customer/company specs and international standards for finishes and processes.
  • Document processing steps to meet requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Operate applicable equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and other departments.
  • Interpret drawings and planning to guide work.

A Process Technician I performs a variety of functions which are directly related to the chemical processing of aircraft parts and components. This typically involves a combination of the following duties such as Aqueous Cleaning, Chemical Etching, Chromate Conversion Coating, Anodizing (sulfuric, non-chromic, hard coat, red & black-dye & Phosphoric Acid), Passivation, Abrasive Blasting, Heat Treatment of Aluminum and Laboratory Analysis. This also includes various types of one of the following; full Laboratory Duties and/or PAA Operator Certification.

This is your chance to work in a ‘State of the Art’ brand new $18 million dollar fully automated Anodize line. You will be working with the newest and most advanced equipment in the industry.

This is for 4th shift: Friday through Sunday from 6:00AM to 6:30 PM.

What you will do
  • Responsible for the chemical processing of detailed parts and final assemblies to current spec requirements.
  • Be well informed about the disposal of Hazardous Waste.
  • Be aware and informed of the Chemicals you work with throughout the day.
  • Be knowledgeable of all pertinent customer/company specifications and international standards relating to standards, finishes, special processes, policies, processing, etc.
  • Capable of processing acceptable parts and passing all required evaluations for some of the required processes.
  • Proper documentation of the process of parts to meet customer requirements.
  • Demonstrate a continued interest in good housekeeping and safety practices.
  • Demonstrate ability to work under a minimal amount of direction for the area supervisor/team coordinator.
  • Be proficient in handling all of the equipment that is applicable to completing the required job.
  • Demonstrate an ability to effectively cooperate and communicate with co-workers and personnel in other departments.
  • Capable of interpreting and understanding part drawings and illustrated planning.
  • Must be able to follow work instructions to ensure the proper processing of parts.
  • Must be able properly wear and use Personal Protective Equipment relating to the job performed.
Qualifications you must have
  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
