Job summary

ORBIS Corporation in Menasha, Wisconsin, is seeking a 2nd Shift Injection Molding Technician. You will assist in the setup of injection molding machines, molds, and materials, and help optimize the molding process.

Responsibilities include starting presses, diagnosing issues, ensuring cycle times match documentation, maintaining quality, and promoting a safe, clean manufacturing floor for all personnel.

Qualifications

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school (or equivalent).
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate resources with the shift foreman to meet production schedules.
  • Start up machines and diagnose molding process problems.
  • Optimize injection molding processes with various resins.
  • Ensure presses run the documented cycle times.
  • Maintain quality and a safe manufacturing floor for personnel.
  • Communicate issues to all relevant teams.

About The Opportunity

Under direct supervision of the shift foreman assists in coordinating the setup of injection molding machines, molds, materials, and their processes.

2nd Shift: 2:00pm - 10:00pm

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Coordinates, with shift foreman resources to efficiently and effectively meet prescribed schedules, line ups.
  • Perform machine starts ups and diagnose and correct problems with the molding process.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot complex injection molding processes using a wide variety of engineered and commodity type resins.
  • Ensure presses are running correct cycle times and match what is documented.
  • Provides knowledge and expertise of injection molding regarding materials, injection mold tools and support equipment.
  • Communicates with all appropriate parties any and all issues relating to the manufacturing floor.
  • Enforces and promotes quality production of parts and assemblies to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Insures a safe and clean work environment for all plant personnel.
  • Maintains and identifies production counts, verifies against production work release.
  • Enforces and adheres to all manufacturing and company policies and procedures.
  • Strives to be a team player and brings a positive attitude towards company policies, procedures, etc.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as directed.
  • Empowerment to take responsibility for the quality of work performed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities as assigned may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning; assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • In conjunction with Shift Supervisor, supervises all production employees on their shift.

Education and/or Experience
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school
  • Three to six months related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Physical Attributes

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
