Job summary

NYX Inc. is seeking a Process Technician for our New Albany, Indiana manufacturing floor. The role focuses on operating and monitoring injection molding processes, supporting mold changes, and ensuring compliance with TS16949 and ISO14001-EMS systems to sustain product quality and efficiency.

The candidate will train operators, document process changes, and uphold 5S and safety standards while collaborating with supervisors and the Process Engineer to optimize cycle times and materials usage.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in injection molding industry, with at least 2 1/2 years of experience operating a mold press and 2 years of mold setup experience.
• Excellent reading and comprehension, strong math skills, problem-solving abilities, and knowledge of metrology, blueprint reading, QC concepts, process controls, and mold shop materials.
• Strong SPC skills; experience with plastics, fluid power systems, and metallurgy.

Responsibilities

• Process mold presses to ensure cycle time standard, quality standard and job packet specs are correct.
• Assist with mold changes, color changes and material changes when needed and directed by supervisor.
• Maintain plant 5S cleanliness/appearance and ensure safe operations.
• Perform basic maintenance functions as needed.
• Train operators and mold setters on startup and shutdown of press and cleaning of molds.
• Develop and instill a teamwork attitude and culture.
• Follow direction of supervision and plant management.
• Verify operation of secondary equipment.
• Verify scrap pieces, validate and report.
• Perform process verification documentation once per shift or during process change.
• Maintain knowledge of controls of mold press, auxiliary equipment and robots safely.
• Understand mold press technical terms and abbreviations.
• Verify set up sheets, route sheets and QC documents.
• Verify mold temperature, injection time, pressure, melt and dryer settings for repeatability/scrap reduction.

Description

Complete assigned responsibilities as a process technician on the manufacturing floor. This applies to all new tool follow-up/ process monitoring for production tooling and cell lay-out functions on the manufacturing floor as per plant’s T.S.16949 and ISO14001-E.M.S. systems.

Key Responsibilities

• 1. Process mold presses to ensure cycle time standard, quality standard and job packet specs are correct.


• 2. Assist with mold changes, color changes and material changes when needed and directed by supervisor.


• 3. Cleanliness / appearance of plant "5S".


• 4. Perform basic maintenance functions as needed.


• 5. Train operators and mold setters on startup and shutdown of press when applicable, also cleaning of molds.


• 6. Develop and instill a teamwork attitude and culture.


• 7. Follow the direction of supervision and/or plant management.


• 8. Verify operation of secondary equipment.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise

Minimum 5 years experience in injection molding industry, with at least 2 1/2 years of experience operating a mold press and 2 years of mold set up experience.

Skills-Must have excellent reading and comprehension skills, excellent math skills in the areas of Applied Math. Must have excellent problem-solving skills and be able to deal with time demands. Must have knowledge of Metrology, blue print reading, quality control concepts/techniques, process controls, and advanced knowledge of mold shop materials. Must have excellent statistical process control skills. Must be skilled in manufacturing plastic products, fluid power systems, and metallurgy.
