PROCESS TECHNICIAN
Job Summary
The Process Technician is responsible for the setup, monitoring, and optimization of plastic injection molding equipment to ensure consistent, high-quality production. This role requires technical skills in injection molding, strong attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving to maintain efficiency, quality, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, start up, and verify injection molding machines, auxiliary equipment, and process control systems.
- Conduct first-shot inspections and confirm readiness for full production.
- Inspect molded components for cosmetic and dimensional defects (e.g., flow lines, sink marks, short shots) and ensure product consistency.
- Troubleshoot and resolve molding and equipment-related process problems to minimize downtime.
- Communicate process, quality, and production updates to operators, quality assurance, and supervisors.
- Set up and operate secondary or downstream equipment as needed.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on molding machines, molds, and support systems.
- Identify sources of scrap and waste; contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, following all company and OSHA safety standards.
- Adhere to all Quality, Environmental, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervision.
Required Skills
- Strong understanding of injection molding machine operation, tooling, and process parameters.
- Proficient in identifying and troubleshooting molding defects.
- Basic mechanical and electrical knowledge.
- Ability to read setup sheets, process documentation, and production work orders.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
- Capable of working independently or collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment (heat, noise, standing for long periods).
