Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Jackson, TN seeks an Assembly Process Support role to troubleshoot real-time production issues, assist with line balancing and changeovers, and ensure adherence to standard work and takt times. You will participate in continuous improvement initiatives, support tooling setup, and contribute to capacity and efficiency gains on the production floor.

• Assist with line balancing, start-up/shutdown and changeover activities
• Ensure processes follow standard work instructions and monitor takt time, cycle time, throughput
• Assist with containment during quality or production disruptions
• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity and ergonomics
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce downtime
• Support capacity improvement projects and future production growth

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assembly Process Support

• Support daily Rehlko and Cummins assembly operations, troubleshooting production and assembly-related issues in real time
• Assist with line balancing, workflow improvements, start-up, shutdown, and changeover activities
• Ensure assembly processes follow standardized work instructions and monitor takt time, cycle time, and throughput performance
• Assist with containment activities during quality or production disruptions

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and ergonomics; support lean manufacturing initiatives including 5S, Kaizen events, waste reduction, and visual management
• Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action activities to reduce downtime and improve first-pass yield
• Support capacity improvement projects and future production growth initiatives

Tooling & Equipment Support

• Assist with assembly tooling setup, maintenance coordination, troubleshooting, and torque tool validation
• Coordinate with Maintenance and Engineering on equipment reliability improvements and implement mistake-proofing solutions
• Support installation and launch of new equipment or process changes

Quality & Documentation

• Ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements; support layered audits and process audits
• Update and maintain work instructions, process sheets, SOPs, PFMEA, and control plans as needed
• Assist with non-conformance investigations and corrective actions

Production Support

• Support supervisors and operators with technical process issues and train operators on assembly methods and standardized work
• Assist in production recovery efforts during equipment or process downtime and monitor production metrics

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $1.00 dollar differential added to employees base rate for this position. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
