Job summary

ECOVYST CATALYST TECHNOLOGIES LLC in Baytown, TX is seeking a Process Technician to operate plant equipment safely and reliably in a rotating shift, with opportunities to support the Production Manager in their absence.

This hands-on role requires experience with sulfuric acid operations, strong safety focus, and a willingness to work with hazardous chemicals and maintenance activities such as logs, inspections, and supporting contractors.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED and 7–10+ years of sulfuric acid operation experience, plus 1-year Process Technology certificate
  • TWIC required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to wear PPE and respiratory protection
  • Able to perform under stress during emergencies or high-pressure situations

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties with safety protocols and regulatory requirements
  • Handle hazardous chemicals and waste per laws
  • Monitor unit conditions and troubleshoot deviations
  • Maintain gauge/shift logs (paper or electronic logs)
  • Inspect fire extinguishers, PPE, and safety showers
  • Perform chemical tests to ensure product specs
  • Complete SAP maintenance work orders for equipment
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance via Lockout/Tagout
  • Ensure SOPs/COPs/EOPs are followed
  • Review management of changes and incident reports
  • Collaborate with contractors and engineers on projects and audits
  • Inspect environmental and housekeeping conditions of the unit
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned

Position Overview:

The Process Technician forEcoservices in Baytown, TX is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all plant equipment while adhering to established procedures and maintaining a strong commitment to safety and environmental responsibility. This is a hands‑on role in a rotating shift environment with opportunities for advancement, to also fill in for the Production Manager in their absence.

What you will be doing:
  • Perform all job duties in strict adherence to safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Handle hazardous chemicals and waste in full compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
  • Monitors condition of unit and troubleshoots when parameters are found to be out of normal operating range
  • Maintais log of gauge readings and shift production using either paper or electronic logs (iProcess)
  • Inspects fire extinguishers, respiratory protections equipment, and safety showers
  • Perform chemical tests on product sample to ensure conformance with specifications, using standard test equipment, materials, and procedure
  • Inspect equipment in unit to determine location and nature of malfunction, such as leaks, breakage, and faulty valves. Complete electronic work orders (SAP) for maintenance repairs
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance by following Lock out Tag out procedures
  • Ensure SOPs / COPs / EOPs and good operating practices accurate and followed
  • Review all management of changes, accident/incident reports, shift log and operating instructions (both unit and Treatment Services)
  • Works with contractors and engineers in the unit; be involved in the projects, HAZOPS, Audits, (etc.) as needed
  • Inspect and monitor environmental, gas leaks and housekeeping within the unit
  • Perform any other duties/projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and a minimum of 7-10+ years of operational/process technology experience as a sulfuric acid operator, and prior sulfuric acid loading experience is preferred: and 1-year Process Technology certificate from a college or technical school, with the above experience
  • Must have the ability to obtain Transportation Worker’s Identification Credentials (TWIC)
  • Basic computer skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to wear appropriate PPE and respiratory protection including supplied air
  • Able to perform under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations or with situations in which speed and sustained attention are required aspects of the job
