Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Executes production according to the appropriate instructions. Ensure productivity and output meet expectations regarding Delivery and Quality. Establish team goals that meet or exceed established quality standards. Monitor and improve productivity, while ensuring all customer commitments are met in a timely, quality, and cost-conscious manner. Create and implement strategies and objectives for functional areas which align with broader goals and priorities.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, and manufacturing. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
- Ensure processes are implemented and followed to track and report metrics in their functional area to include work order completion, inventory accuracy, throughput, capacity, and customer complaints.
- Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute policy/strategy. Uses prior experience and on-the-job training to solve straightforward tasks. Has access to technical skills and analytic thinking required to solve problems. May use multiple internal sources outside of own team to arrive at decisions.
- In-depth understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. In-depth understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
- Uses some level of judgment and has ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters but with guidance.
- Oversight and management of front-line manufacturing employees; typically managing hourly employee populations. Manage the full employment cycle for assigned team, to include recruitment, development, training, coaching, and counseling as needed.
- Manage daily production schedules, aligning to the overall direction of the site. Help to integrate quality and safety standards. Provide feedback, instructions, and development coaching to production associates that align to the KPI's of the site. Ensure staff are aware of key metrics and aligned with expectations.
- Ensure the assigned functional area operates and adheres to expected safety standards, ensure staff have all required safety certifications and training, drive accountability to safety requirements, support safety initiatives, and drive continuous improvement.
- Drive and ensure a high level of employee relations and engagement for the area. Drive a culture of fairness, consistency, and servant- leadership.
- Implement and sustain meaningful engagement. Active engagement with team members including DMS shift and cross over meetings, safety pulse stops, audits, on floor support for production issues, and personal engagement with team. Expectation is for people leaders to spend two-thirds of their day in meaningful engagement with team members.
- Provide coaching and constructive feedback to team members through daily interactions along with expectation to have a formal 1-1 meeting with each team member at least once every 6 months.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree with 5 or more years production, supply chain experience or leadership, or High School diploma/GED and 7 or more years production or supply chain leadership experience, or GE Leadership Program employee or graduate
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement Best Practices and deal with high levels of ambiguity.
- Experience scheduling a production shop floor.
- Ability to pivot and adapt quickly to issues that arise on a daily basis.
- Servant Leader characteristics, strong traits of emotional intelligence and engagement skills.
Desired Characteristics
- Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
- MBA or Masters.
- Demonstrated ability to identify & implement best practices.
- Direct experience as it relates to area of assignment (ie welding, machining, assembly, other)
- Established project management skills.
- Strong background and experience with Lean production methods and tools.
