Becton Dickinson is seeking a Process Specialist to operate and maintain high-speed manufacturing equipment for medical devices in our Sandy, UT facility. The role involves ensuring production targets and quality, with participation in team activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

The Afternoon shift runs 2:45 PM–1:00 AM, Monday–Thursday. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, plus experience in manufacturing processes, GMP/GDP, and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 1 year of relevant work experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with GDP, GMP and quality systems.
  • Strong communication and time-management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and certify multiple processes or equipment groups on high-speed manufacturing lines.
  • Participate in equipment changeovers and set-ups.
  • Monitor processes for quality and efficiency.
  • Respond to machine faults and restore normal operation.
  • Support autonomous maintenance of equipment and area.
  • Maintain GDP records and communicate issues promptly.
  • Join 5S, Kaizen and shift start-up activities.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and BD policies.
  • Collaborate with team and support functions; train others as needed.
  • Overtime as required.

Job Description

As a Process Specialist , you will be responsible for operating and maintaining machines/equipment used in the production of medical devices. Your primary role will be to ensure the efficient and smooth operation of the equipment to meet production targets and maintain product quality. Participates in all team meetings, activities, team building initiatives, and operational excellence activities.

Schedule: Afternoon shift (2nd shift) 2:45 PM-1:00 AM Monday-Thursday

Responsibilities
  • Certify to operate multiple processes or grouping of equipment on high speed automated or semiautomated manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in all equipment changeovers or set‑ups.
  • Monitor assigned processes to ensure high quality production.
  • Respond to machine faults and restore to normal operation
  • Participate in autonomous maintenance to maintain assigned equipment/area
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality is required per the BD attendance policy
  • Maintain equipment and a clean area by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down equipment.
  • Maintains an open line of communication to ensure all problems/changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner
  • Maintains accurate records as required following good documentation practices (GDP)
  • Participate in root cause analysis to identify and resolve issues as needed
  • Participate in tier 1 shifts' start‑up meetings, 5S, and Kaizen events
  • Follow all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations
  • Follow all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
  • Support and maintain a safe working environment including the submission of employee safety observations (ESO)
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to get along with people and work in a team environment
  • Willingness to rotate into different tasks and responsibilities as needed
  • Ability to train other associates as needed
  • Ability to identify production issues and clearly communication to support functions
  • Willing to work overtime as needed
Required

Required: High School Diploma or relevant equivalent experience, or 1-year relevant work experience.
