Job summary

PPG's Aerospace Business is seeking a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to join onsite in Mojave, CA. This role leads world-class safety initiatives to protect people, optimize operations, and support sustainable manufacturing.

You will drive the Mojave site's PSM program, ensuring regulatory and corporate compliance. You will report to the Operations Manager and collaborate with diverse teams to advance process safety practices and training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Process Safety Management within a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
• Understanding of OSHA PSM regulations.
• Knowledge of process hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experience collaborating effectively with all levels of an organization.

Responsibilities

• Continually improves site process safety management systems.
• Leads monthly PSM Leadership Team meetings.
• Tracks process safety leading indicators and conducts strategic analysis to reduce risk.
• Ensures effective communication of management of changes, PHA, safe operating limits, and other PS elements.
• Develops employee training to improve process safety capabilities.
• Completes internal and external assessment of program execution.
• Networks with corporate and other units to foster adoption of best practices.
• Provides leadership and technical assistance on process safety issues and incidents.
• Facilitates investigation of high potential PS events and significant failures.
• Assists with integration of new projects from a PS perspective.
• Develops PHA schedule with facility resources and advises management on risk.

PPG's Aerospace Business is looking for a Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer to join our team onsite in Mojave, CA! In this role, you would take the lead in driving world-class process safety initiatives that protect people, optimize operations, and shape the future of sustainable manufacturing!

The PSM Engineer facilitates the implementation and ongoing execution of the Mojave site's process safety management program. You will report to the site Operations Manager and help ensure compliance with regulatory and corporate process safety requirements and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Continually improves site process safety management systems.
• Leads monthly PSM Leadership Team meetings.
• Tracks process safety leading indicators and conduct strategic analysis to develop action plans to reduce risk.
• Ensures the effective communication of management of changes, process hazard analysis, safe operating limits, and other process safety elements.
• Develops employee training to improve the process safety capabilities of the organization.
• Complete internal and external assessment of program execution.
• Network with corporate and other business unit process safety managers to foster adoption of best practices.
• Provide leadership, counsel, and technical assistance on process safety issues, incidents and ensures effective process safety program execution.
• Facilitates investigation of high potential process safety events and significant process failures.
• Assists with the integration of new projects or facility expansion projects from a process safety perspective.
• Work with facility personnel on developing the process hazard analysis schedule and providing facility resources.
• Advise plant management on process safety risk and mitigation.
• Facilitates action plan development and implementation of property loss prevention improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in Process Safety Management within a manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
• Understanding of OSHA PSM regulations.
• Knowledge of process hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
• Experienced with collaborating effectively with all levels of an organization.

The base salary range for this position is $80,000 to $95,000, with a possibility of an annual bonus up to 4.5% of base salary.
