Job Summary
The Reliability Engineer will collaborate with Sibelco's plant maintenance, production, and leadership teams to develop tools and systems for measuring production process reliability. This role involves providing engineering support for maintenance planning, supervision, operation, and maintenance of Sibelco North America Processing plants. The engineer will implement programs to ensure safe operation, high equipment reliability and availability, cost-effective maintenance, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Applying lean maintenance strategies and predictive technologies to optimize operational performance, lifecycle costs, and payback is essential. Additionally, the role acts as the primary liaison for capital projects with the Capital implementation team across all cluster plants.
Responsibilities
Safety
- Maintain and promote a safe working environment for all employees.
Project Management/Improvement
- Achieve safety and health objectives.
- Lead and execute reliability excellence/maintenance programs, maintaining related strategy documents.
- Collaborate with Maintenance Planners/Supervisors to implement Lean manufacturing tools, empowering employees and improving financial performance.
- Assess asset criticality using Reliability Centered Maintenance approaches and define proactive, cost-beneficial maintenance strategies.
- Identify and manage predictive maintenance technologies and equipment.
- Support investigations into operational events and equipment failures, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions are implemented.
- Conduct audits on safety, compliance, maintenance effectiveness, cost savings, and energy conservation.
- Participate in planning, design review, and construction documentation for new facilities and renovations, supporting utility distribution and business continuity planning.
- Support commissioning activities, including PM job plans, maintainability reviews, critical spares, and documentation.
Analysis and KPI Reporting
- Develop and monitor KPIs related to equipment reliability.
- Lead maintenance improvement initiatives like PM Optimization, RCM, RCA, RCFA, FMEA, and predictive maintenance tools.
- Maintain technical competency in advanced maintenance technologies.
- Evaluate repair history and costs, analyze failure data, and prioritize actions to improve reliability.
- Collaborate with local Maintenance Teams to prioritize, plan, and schedule maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Develop solutions for repetitive or costly failures, applying value analysis for decision-making.
- Assist troubleshooting of major/repetitive equipment issues.
- Advise Supervisors/Managers on operational problems affecting safety and efficiency.
- Monitor and report on maintenance activity KPIs, including wrench time analysis.

Industry Knowledge

- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermography, ultrasound, motor current analysis).

Educational & Experience Requirements
- Minimum 10-15 years of engineering/industrial maintenance experience, including mechanical design/testing and adherence to international quality standards.
- At least 5 years in utility systems/management or facilities/plant maintenance; experience in the glass industry preferred.
- Certified Plant Engineer or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional preferred.
- Proficient in English, both verbal and written.
