Job summary

ABB is seeking a Process Quality Electronics Engineer to drive the quality strategy for a local unit in Richmond, VA. You will partner with cross-functional teams to prevent defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions that meet customer expectations.

In this onsite role you will develop testing capabilities, map manufacturing processes, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in Electronics Engineering or related field with ≥2 years experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics for PCBA.
  • Proficient with electrical test equipment (power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma and other process improvement methodologies is desirable.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze defective electronics components returned from customers and inhouse rejections and take corrective action.
  • Develop testing equipment in coordination with cross-functional teams to test electronic components.
  • Map current manufacturing processes and identify improvement areas through automation.
  • Focus on continuous improvement using lean manufacturing principles.
  • Provide training and support to users on new processes and ensure smooth transitions.
  • Keep track of emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend innovative solutions.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role as Process Quality Electronics Engineer, you will have the opportunity to support the deployment of the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations, while ensuring sustainable operations. Each day, you will assist the organization in achieving the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. You will also showcase your expertise by collaborating with local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Analyze all the defective electronics components returned from customer sites and inhouse rejections and take corrective action necessary.
  • Develop new testing equipment in co-ordination with a cross-functional team to test the electronic components.
  • Mapping current manufacturing processes and identifying areas for improvement through automation.
  • Focus on continuous improvement by utilizing lean manufacturing principles.
  • Provide training and support to users on new processes, ensuring smooth transition.
  • Keep track on emerging technologies and industry trends and recommend innovative solutions.
Qualifications for the role
  • Bachelor in Electronics Engineering or related engineering field PLUS minimum 2 years of experience
  • Proficiency in analyzing electronics components.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics of electrical equipment and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
  • Skilled in using electrical test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, oscilloscopes and power analyzers.
  • Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.

While base salary is determined by things such as the successful applicant's qualifications and experience, this position is expected to pay between $68,600 and $109,760 annually.
