Job summary

Mineral Ridge Gold, LLC is seeking a Process Operator to safely and efficiently run the mineral processing plant, including ore handling, milling, leaching, and gold recovery. The role involves 12-hour shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule at a remote site with company-provided housing. Applicants must adhere to MSHA Part 48 standards and participate in safety programs.

Job description

Position Summary

The Process Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the mineral processing plant, including all stages of ore handling, milling, leaching, and gold recovery. This role is critical to achieving production targets while maintaining compliance with company safety standards, environmental requirements, and regulatory obligations. The Process Operator works as part of a rotating operations crew under the direction of the Process Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities
Plant Operations & Monitoring
  • Operate and monitor all areas of the processing plant, including crushing, screening, milling, thickening, leaching, carbon-in-leach (CIL), and gold recovery circuits.
  • Conduct regular rounds to inspect equipment, monitor process parameters, and identify deviations from normal operating conditions.
  • Adjust process variables such as flow rates, reagent additions, densities, and pH levels to maintain optimal plant performance.
  • Start up and shut down plant circuits and individual equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Respond promptly to alarms, equipment faults, and process upsets to minimize downtime and production losses.
Reagent Handling & Chemical Management
  • Prepare, mix, and add process reagents including cyanide, lime, flocculants, and other chemicals in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Handle and store hazardous materials safely and in compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor reagent inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Sampling & Documentation
  • Collect process samples at scheduled intervals and submit for assay in accordance with sampling protocols.
  • Accurately complete shift logs, production reports, and other required documentation, including equipment readings and process data.
  • Communicate shift status, equipment issues, and process conditions clearly during shift handover.
Safety & Compliance
  • Follow all site safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including MSHA Part 48 standards.
  • Apply lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, and other applicable safe work procedures when required.
  • Properly use and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including chemical-specific PPE for reagent handling.
  • Identify and report hazards, near misses, and incidents promptly to the supervisor and EHS department.
  • Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments as required.
Housekeeping & Equipment Care
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and report spills, leaks, or housekeeping deficiencies immediately.
  • Perform basic operator-level maintenance tasks including lubrication, belt tensioning, minor adjustments, and cleaning as directed.
  • Assist maintenance personnel during planned and unplanned maintenance activities as requested.
Team Collaboration
  • Work cooperatively with process crew members, maintenance technicians, and supervisors to achieve shift and production goals.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new operators as requested by the supervisor.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by identifying operational inefficiencies and suggesting process improvements.
Qualifications
Required
  • 0-3+ years of experience in mineral processing, industrial operations, or a related field.
  • Ability to read and follow standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and written instructions.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with industrial equipment, pumps, conveyors, and rotating machinery.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and ability to work in a safety-sensitive environment.
Preferred
  • Experience in gold or silver mineral processing operations, including CIL, heap leach, or similar hydrometallurgical processes.
  • Familiarity with cyanide handling and applicable safety requirements (e.g., International Cyanide Management Code).
  • Experience operating a distributed control system (DCS) or similar process monitoring platform.
  • MSHA Part 48 training or willingness to obtain.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to traverse rugged, uneven mine site terrain, including inclines and unpaved surfaces.
  • Ability to work in an outdoor industrial environment in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, and work at elevated areas, in confined spaces, and around chemical handling areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE for extended periods, including respirator, chemical-resistant gloves, and splash protection as applicable.
Work Environment

This role is based in an industrial gold mining and mineral processing environment, working rotating 12-hour shifts on a 7-on/7-off schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The Process Operator works at a remote site location with company-provided housing available at the Silver Peak mancamp.

The employee may be required to perform other related duties as assigned to meet ongoing operational needs.
