Job summary

Veolia North America is seeking a Process Planner to review, approve, and route hazardous waste containers through treatment processes. The role coordinates between Production, Operations and Approvals to optimize waste processing while maintaining safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare specific written burn plans by providing hazardous waste type, special instructions heating and chlorine values for all drum waste.
  • Provide specific instructions to hourly personnel for proper and safe handling of solid wastes and incineration.
  • Prepare plans for specialty and feeder systems to include type of waste, flushing, handling for residuals, and operator instructions for burning residual wastes.
  • Maintain and update reactive database and all profiles to composition, handling, incineration, etc. to ensure burn requirements.
  • Ensure hazardous waste inventory is processed within designated time parameters.
  • Work with operational personnel to determine the most preferred method of handling various waste streams.
  • Prepare a variety of weekly and monthly reports to determine and insure that existing process burn plans are effective and efficient.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Description
Position Purpose

The Process Planner is responsible for reviewing, approving, and routing hazardous waste containers through VGS treatment processes. This position serves as a critical control point ensuring chemical compatibility, worker safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency. The Process Planner works at the intersection of multiple departments, coordinating between Production, Operations, and Approvals to optimize waste processing while maintaining the highest safety and regulatory standards. This is a key operational role that requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to make sound decisions under time pressure.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities
  • Prepare specific written burn plans by providing hazardous waste type, special instructions heating and chlorine values for all drum waste.
  • Provide specific instructions to hourly personnel for proper and safe handling of solid changes to insure proper incineration.
  • Prepare plans for specialty and feeder systems to include type of waste, flushing, handling for residuals, and operator instructions for burning any residual solid wastes.
  • Maintain and update reactive database and all profiles to composition, handling, incineration, etc. to insure and expedite appropriate burn requirements
  • Insure and monitor that all hazardous waste inventory is processed in accordance within designated time parameters.
  • Work with appropriate operational personnel to determine the most preferred method of handling various waste streams.
  • Prepare a variety of weekly and monthly reports to determine and insure that existing process burn plans are effective and efficient.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background
  • BS in Chemistry or related discipline required
  • Prior work experience of 2-4 years in the hazardous waste industry preferred
