Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Process Optimization Manager to drive cross-functional improvements for Finance, enabling scale, efficiency, and agility. The role requires deep expertise in process design, performance measurement, and opportunities assessment with process owners across related functions.

The candidate will apply Lean/Six Sigma principles to map, reengineer, and provide toolkits, ensuring sustainable improvements and strong collaboration across diverse teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 7+ years of experience leading process improvement; Finance experience preferred.
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Ability to influence without authority to drive change.
  • Knowledge of Lean continuous improvement practices and facilitating Lean concepts.

  • Partner with Finance process owners to drive critical process improvements and automation in Finance and other functions.
  • Establish and promote a continuous process improvement mindset with KPI/metric targets and training.
  • Develop process mappings, gap analyses, and future-state solutions for Finance teams.
  • Create, deploy, and maintain process best practices and documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders across organizational levels.

Job description

Summary

Mortenson is currently seeking a Process Optimization Manager who will be responsible for driving the execution of the top priority, cross-functional process improvements for Finance. This individual will lead complex process improvement and transformation efforts across finance and related functional areas to enable scale, operational efficiency, and agility.

The candidate will have a strong command over the best practices for business performance improvement and process design, demonstrating the ability to evaluate and assess gaps and opportunities and develop actionable outcomes in partnership with process owners.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Finance process owners to drive critical process improvements and automation in Finance and across other functional areas, including assessment of pain points, gaps, and interdependencies, and design and implementation of future state solutions
  • Establish and promote a continuous process improvement mindset and practices through KPI/metric target-setting and monitoring, process mining, and enablement training
  • Leverage industry-leading process improvement methodologies to develop process mapping, assess and reengineer frameworks, and provide toolkits for Finance process owners, including process flow diagrams, roles/responsibilities, and gap analysis reports
  • Collaborate and contribute to the creation, deployment, and maintenance of process best practices and documentation
  • Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum 7+ years' experience leading process improvement methodologies, with experience in Finance preferred
  • Experience and certification in Lean or Six Sigma preferred
  • Ability to influence without authority to achieve change
  • Knowledge of and experience developing and implementing Lean (continuous improvement, operational excellence) practices and approaches
  • Ability to effectively manage and facilitate Lean concepts with business partners
  • Excellent problem-solving, detail-oriented, and innovative skills
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including openness to diverse input and feedback

The base pay range for this role is $111,500 - $168,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR – 10%, Washington, D.C. – 12.5%).

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
