Job summary

Darling Ingredients Inc. is seeking an Operator to run computer-controlled process equipment, cooker, and related machinery, and to evaluate process problems while performing product quality testing.

Responsibilities include overseeing rendering from raw material to finished goods, maintaining cooker temperature and flow, monitoring evaporation rate, operating presses, and ensuring safety per company rules. Some maintenance and problem reporting to the manager are required.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• One year of manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural experience preferred.
• Knowledge of mechanical rendering process preferred.
• Chemical manufacturing experience a plus.
• Good mechanical aptitude and equipment troubleshooting; safe operation of equipment.
• Basic math skills; decimals and percentages.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good oral and written skills.
• Ability to work nights and/or weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Overses rendering process from raw material bin to finished goods storage.
• Maintain steady flow of material to cooker.
• Maintain cooker temperature, rate, and steam at peak levels.
• Monitor evaporation rate to meet hourly requirements.
• Control flow to presses and finished goods storage.
• Monitor control panels and gauges to run the process.
• Operate pollution control, boiler, and wastewater systems.
• Perform periodic preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Report problems to the supervisor and ensure safety compliance.
