Gelest, Inc., part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is hiring a Process Operator to join our team in Glen Rock, PA. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to our mission of delivering innovative specialty chemical solutions to customers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Operate various types of chemical processing equipment, such as reactors, distillation columns, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors.
- Follow written and verbal instructions to produce specialty chemicals in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct basic tests and analyze data to ensure products meet quality standards.
- Gather, sign in, and sign out raw materials and finished products.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventories and flow of materials in the production area.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment.
- Use feedback from processes to make necessary adjustments to maintain safe and efficient output.
- Collect samples of products at specified stages of the process for laboratory analysis.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and safety protocols.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent. Chemical or manufacturing experience is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and diagrams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Demonstrate basic math skills involved with calculating and interpreting data gathered during production.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols.
- Frequent lifting of up to and over 50 lbs.
- Stand for extended periods, lift heavy equipment, operate various hand tools and wear personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Able to operate or learn to operate a forklift.
- Be aware of fire, safety and chemical hazards.
- Pass respirator fit test as required by OSHA.
- Must be able to hear and respond to all communications and alarms.
- Ability to work 12‑hour rotating shifts.
Schedule
The Glen Rock production team runs a 3‑day then 4‑day rotating 12‑hour schedule. One week you work 3 days; the next week you work 4 days. Day shift is 5:30 am–6:00 pm and night shift is 5:30 pm–6:00 am. After four weeks on one shift, you rotate to the opposite shift.
- Short week (3‑day week): Monday, Thursday, Friday.
- Long week (4‑day week): Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $22.00 (entry level) – $28.00 per hour. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, job‑related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered. This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state) if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
