This is a job description for a Process Operator Day Shift in Jackson, Mississippi.

Summary

The Operator is responsible for the operation of computer-controlled process equipment, cookers, machinery, and evaluation of process problems, in addition to performing product quality testing.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees rendering process from raw material bin to finished goods storage.
• Maintains steady flow of material to cooker.
• Maintains cooker temperature, rate, and steam at peak levels.
• Monitors evaporation rate to maintain required processing rate.
• Controls flow of material to presses and storage.
• Operates pollution control systems including air/odor and wastewater control.
• Responsible for boiler startup and operation.
• Performs periodic preventative maintenance.
• Monitors machinery and reports issues to management.
• Ensures work area and equipment are clean after each shift.
• Prioritizes safety in accordance with company rules and regulations.

Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least one year of experience in manufacturing, industrial, or agricultural environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical rendering process preferred.
• Experience in chemical manufacturing is a plus.
• Good mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic math and computer skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
