Job summary

Drug Plastics is seeking a Process Mechanic for their facility in Boyertown, PA. This role primarily focuses on the set-up, maintenance, and troubleshooting of extrusion and injection blow-molding machines. The position requires strong mechanical skills, effective communication, and the ability to work on the second shift.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in quality control and sorting-room operations.

Job description

Position Summary

Process Mechanic is responsible for setting up, maintaining and troubleshooting extrusion and injection blow‑molding machines and associated support equipment. Assures accurate, complete, timely, safe and efficient set‑up and ongoing operational performance of all processing equipment. This is a second shift position (3:00 pm‑11:30 pm Monday‑Friday) with some overtime required.

Major Areas of Responsibility
  • Set‑up and troubleshoot blow‑molding machines and support equipment.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, monthly and annual scheduled preventive maintenance on machines.
  • Operate vacuum loader systems, automatic converter system and sorting‑room equipment as required.
  • Assist in packer/inspector, quality control, material and sorting‑room operations as outlined for the Process Mechanic.
  • Assist and substitute as needed in the materials department.
  • Assist in mold inspection as assigned.
Job Requirements
  • Demonstrated strong skills in set‑up and repair in the plastics industry strongly preferred.
  • Broad theoretical knowledge and mechanical experience in hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Good mathematical skills for shop calculations.
  • Strong command of written language, including technical manuals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
  • Ability to read and interpret cap drawings and blueprints.
  • Decision‑making skills ensuring appropriate action.
  • Must provide own basic mechanic hand tools.
  • Vision correctable to 20/20; able to perceive and identify color differences.
  • Hearing acuity sufficient for factory environment.
Education and Experience
  • 1 to 2 years of mechanical experience required.
  • Industrial maintenance degree or certificate, or similar education a plus.
  • Plastics industry experience a plus.
