Job summary

GlaxoSmithKline in the United States is seeking a Facilities Process Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on biopharmaceutical process equipment, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous production operations. You will work with sanitary valves, pumps, autoclaves, chromatography columns, and PLC/SCADA systems, following cGMP guidelines.

You must have a high school diploma and 2+ years of experience with industrial equipment; welding or mechatronics certs are a plus.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required.
  • 2+ years maintaining or troubleshooting industrial equipment.
  • Familiarity with GMP and regulatory guidelines a plus.
  • Able to work in tight, confined spaces.

Responsibilities

Facilities Process Technician (posting label)

As a Facilities Process Technician (posting label), you would be responsible to perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of biopharmaceutical process equipment. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoots and safely repair process systems on a routine and emergency basis to assure continuous production operations.
  • Maintain and repair sanitary valves and actuators, agitation systems, rotary lobe pumps, centrifugal pumps, cartridge mechanical seals, centrifuges, chromatography columns, autoclaves, equipment washers, and other sanitary/sterile equipment and systems.
  • Must be familiar with PLC’s and distributed control systems and their operation and interaction with the process equipment and systems.
  • Uses schematics to diagnose electrical control and motor circuits.
  • Safely perform preventative and corrective maintenance tasks on process equipment and systems.
  • Make recommendations for maintenance tasks and frequencies and procedural/operational changes to enhance equipment life and maintainability.
  • Identify spare parts and consumables necessary to perform these tasks.
  • Perform metal fabrication tasks as necessary.
  • Inspect, replace, align, adjust, and lubricate mechanical system components including bearings, gear boxes, belt drives, shaft couplings, mechanical seals, and related devices.
  • Perform tasks that require entry and maneuvering in tight spaces inside a stainless‑steel bioreactor through a 24‑inch (61 cm) manway, including cleaning, inspection and maintenance.
  • Candidate must complete confined‑space entry and safety training and adhere to EHS procedures, permits and PPE standards.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma
  • 2+ years of experience in maintaining and/or troubleshooting industrial process or utility equipment
  • Experience in administrative tasks GMP or processing experience
  • Ability to work in very tight, narrow, confined spaces
Preferred Qualifications
  • Any type of technical certification, such as welding, mechatronics, machinery.
  • Familiar with cGMP’s, regulatory guidelines, governmental codes, and standard operating procedure.
  • Strong communications skills, both verbal and written.
  • Skills and knowledge to serve as a resource to less experienced employees
  • The ability to work rotating shift work.
  • Work safely, independently, and without direct supervision.
