Job summary

Kyyba is seeking a skilled Battery Engineering professional in the United States for a manufacturing environment focused on cell assembly, electrolyte fill, and related processes. The role requires 3+ years in a similar engineering capacity, experience with production preparation, and strong collaboration across production engineering, manufacturing, and R&D.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field
  • 3+ years of equivalent Engineering role experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in manufacturing production preparation role and schedule/deliverable management including stages of project plan, process/equipment plan, specification & procurement, installation and trial.
  • Experience in winding, cell assembly & electrolyte fill on automotive cells (2+ years, 5+ years Preferred)
  • Experience in battery cell product, processes/equipment, and/or trial activity.
  • Experience coordinating with varied functions in large corporate organization, including production engineering, manufacturing, research & development, and Quality, or similar, and reporting out to senior leadership level.
  • Experience interpreting & applying product/process specification, drawing and data, etc. including new material introduction and validation and change point management and confirmation
  • Ability for weekend and shutdown work, overtime up to 25%, and travel (domestic and international) up to 15%
  • Knowledge in battery chemistry and trials to confirm materials
  • Knowledge in battery manufacturing process and problem solving Trial management and KPI confirmation
  • Evaluation of cell performance using analytical tools and quality functions
  • Experience in product x process/equipment simultaneous engineering for new model
  • Experience in manufacturing plant production operations role
  • Experience in data analytics tools and methods
  • Experience in digital engineering software tools and procedures, including the ability to read, interpret and modify model data
  • Japanese language proficiency including verbal and written

Responsibilities

  • Input to process and equipment plan/specification for kaizen and issue prevention.
  • Use and advance systems and procedures for problem solving and learning capture.
  • Manage individual activity, reporting, and reflection.
  • Lead internal and external partner relationships aligned to team objectives.
  • Guide Hoshin/overall direction for organizational advancement within the department.
  • Support standardization and kaizen of department systems and processes.
  • Mentor and teach team members on battery knowledge, trial planning/execution, data analysis, and Toyota principles when applicable.

  • Mentor and Teach other members in the team on battery knowledge, trial planning and execution, data analysis and Toyota principles if applicable
  • Drive own individual development, seek feedback, and monitor progress
Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering or similar technical field

3+ years of equivalent Engineering role experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience in manufacturing production preparation role and schedule/deliverable management including stages of project plan, process/equipment plan, specification & procurement, installation and trial.

Experience in winding, cell assembly & electrolyte fill on automotive cells (2+ years, 5+ years Preferred)

Experience in battery cell product, processes/equipment, and/or trial activity.

Experience in activity of Ryohin Joken identification, application, and/or confirmation.

Experience coordinating with varied functions in large corporate organization, including production engineering, manufacturing, research & development, and Quality, or similar, and reporting out to senior leadership level.

Experience in interpreting & applying product/process specification, drawing and data, etc. including new material introduction and validation and change point management and confirmation
