Job summary

Hensley Industries seeks a Process Improvement & QA Engineer to maintain and improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, coordinate audits, and drive process improvements across operations and suppliers. The role collaborates across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure compliance and product quality.

The candidate will support supplier quality activities, analyze quality data, and lead cross-functional improvements to reduce risk and meet customer requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related field.
• 3–5 years in quality engineering or related areas preferred.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and QMS.
• Experience planning or supporting internal, supplier, customer, or third-party certification audits preferred.
• SAP or similar ERP experience preferred.
• Strong communication and data analysis skills.
• Experience with ISO 14001/ISO 45001 is a plus.
• Experience in steel fabrication or heavy equipment components is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Maintain ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including SOPs, work instructions, specifications, records, calibration controls, approved supplier information, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
• Plan, support, and perform internal audits to verify compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and company procedures.
• Support external, customer, and certification audits, including preparation, audit response, evidence collection, and follow-up on assigned actions.
• Manage QMS document control so procedures, work instructions, forms, and specifications are accurate, current, controlled, and available to users.
• Coordinate corrective and preventive actions for internal findings, customer complaints, supplier issues, and process non-conformances; verify effective closure.
• Support supplier quality activities, including supplier audits, heat treatment audits, casting supplier reviews, supplier performance follow-up, and supplier corrective action requests.
• Analyze quality data, audit results, non-conformance trends, supplier performance, and process metrics to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Lead or support cross-functional process improvement projects that improve quality, reduce variation, strengthen compliance, and meet customer’s expectations.
• Work with laboratory, production, engineering, purchasing, and other departments to support failure investigations, root cause analysis, and process control improvements.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

PURPOSE:

Maintain and improve the organization's ISO 9001 Quality Management System by managing QMS documentation, supporting internal and external audits, coordinating corrective actions and non-conforming material processes, and verifying the effectiveness of quality system controls. Support supplier quality activities, including supplier audits and performance follow-up, and partner with operations, engineering, laboratory, and other departments to drive process improvements that reduce risk, improve product quality, and support customer requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

Qualifications/Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or a related technical field is required.
• 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering, quality systems, manufacturing quality, supplier quality, or a related field is preferred.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements and QMS processes is required.
• Experience planning, performing, or supporting internal, supplier, customer, or third-party certification audits is preferred.
• Audit qualification or certification, such as ISO 9001 internal auditor or lead auditor training is preferred.
• Experience with supplier quality management, supplier corrective actions, and supplier performance monitoring is preferred.
• Experience with ISO 14001 Environmental Management and ISO 4501 Occupational Health and Safety Management systems is a plus.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and follow-up skills are required, including the ability to communicate clearly across departments and suppliers.
• Computer proficiency is required, including Microsoft Office tools and the ability to analyze and summarize quality data.
• SAP or similar ERP system experience is preferred.
• Steel foundry, steel fabrication, machining, welding, heat treatment, or heavy equipment component experience is a plus.
• Ability to apply math concepts, statistical thinking, and problem-solving methods to practical quality and manufacturing situations.
