Job Title

Process Improvement Engineer (Hybrid-Multi-Plant Support)

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to support two manufacturing plants through process improvement initiatives, data system management, and financial analysis. This role will drive operational excellence by implementing Lean and Six Sigma methodologies, optimizing production processes, and supporting key financial and strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a data-driven mindset, the ability to collaborate across various teams, and a strong focus on driving results by identifying opportunities, analyzing data, and implementing effective solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction efforts.
  • Conduct time studies, data analysis, and process assessments to identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
  • Navigate through multiple systems (USF2 for inventory, Impact for product costing, Peoplesoft for financials) to extract and interpret data.
  • Aid in generating and validating materials and BOMs to ensure accurate product costing.
  • Support inventory accuracy efforts by identifying and addressing areas of opportunity.
  • Leverage tools like Excel, PowerAutomate, PowerBI, and similar systems to aid in data visualization that supports informed decision making.
  • Assist with plant financial elements, including budgeting, cost analysis, product costing, capital projects, and reporting on POVA (plant operating variances/financials).
  • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizens, SMED, 5S, Standard Work, and Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to aid in improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required (Preferred: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar field).
  • Willingness to travel frequently to Plant HW in South Pittsburg, TN.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, with the ability to learn and utilize Splunk, Power Automate, Microsoft Scripts, and Minitab, and other data systems.
  • Understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset and strong problem-solving abilities focused on delivering measurable results.
  • Effectively communicate recommendations that are supported by clear, data-driven reasoning.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and support cost-saving initiatives.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
