Job summary

The Lubrizol Corporation in Pasadena, TX is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to lead process optimization projects at the Bayport site. You will collaborate with technical experts to define project scope, prioritize improvement opportunities, and drive operational excellence across manufacturing.

Responsibilities include safety-minded design, data analysis, and cross-functional coordination. You will leverage Lean Six Sigma principles, manage multiple initiatives, and work with Operations,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Chemical Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing engineering focused on process improvement and/or production engineering.
  • Proven track record of leveraging technology and process optimization to improve manufacturing performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maximize value through process optimization initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and objectives simultaneously.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement concepts and tools.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and departments across the site.
  • Strong planning, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, and goal-oriented.

  • Lead continuous improvement activities (gap closure/project scope definition) for assigned units and serve in specific project-related roles as the manufacturing representative through FEL Design.
  • Partner with experts from the Center of Excellence, Operations, and EH&S to develop project scopes and gap closure plans that support business objectives.
  • Analyze production loss accounting data and develop and prioritize a list of process improvement opportunities.
  • Champion process safety activities during project design and partner with operations to ensure safe and reliable manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the units they support.

How You’ll Make An Impact

As a Process Improvement Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of innovation by implementing process and technology improvement opportunities within your technology area at the Lubrizol Bayport site. You will lead teams that evaluate and prioritize improvement opportunities, collaborate with technical experts to define project scope, and help drive operational excellence across the manufacturing organization. You'll work alongside a diverse group of passionate individuals to deliver sustainable solutions that advance mobility, improve wellbeing, and enhance modern life. In this role, you will:

  • Possess in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets that help establish credibility with the operations team.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities (gap closure/project scope definition) for assigned units and serve in specific project-related roles as the manufacturing representative through FEL Design.
  • Partner with experts from the Center of Excellence, Operations, and EH&S to develop project scopes and gap closure plans that support business objectives.

  • Ensure implementation of the most effective technology by integrating operability input from Operations, Corporate and Business Manufacturing Excellence Teams (MET), and Maintenance & Reliability into project definition and design.
  • Maintain accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the units they support.
  • Ensure effective coordination between manufacturing representatives and plant operations to optimize operability and technical integrity.
  • Provide effective communication and coordination between project teams and Operations.
  • Support Front End Loading (FEL) project activities as required.
  • Serve as the lead person for all new plant product trials.
Required Qualifications That Enable Your Success
