Job summary

Lubrizol Corporation in Louisville, KY seeks a Process Improvement Engineer to drive process and technology improvements within its chemical production environment. You will lead teams, define scope with Front-End Loading, and partner with Centers of Excellence to translate opportunities into actionable projects.

The role emphasizes process safety, data-driven decision making, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, EH&S, and Maintenance to ensure robust operability and value

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Chemical) from an accredited university.
  • 3+ years of experience as an engineer within a chemical plant.
  • Proven record of leveraging technology and process optimization.
  • Vision for establishing and maximizing value from process optimization.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement concepts and tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and goals.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels and departments at the site.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong planning, organization, presentation, and influencing skills.
  • Self-driven and goal oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Possess in-depth process technology and continuous improvement skill sets helping to establish credibility with the operations team.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities (gap closure and project scope definition) for the unit and serve in specific project-related roles as the manufacturing representative through Front-End Loading (FEL) design.
  • Partner with experts (Centers of Excellence, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety) to develop project scope and gap closure plans that support business objectives.
  • Analyze production loss accounting data to develop and prioritize a list of process improvement opportunities.
  • Champion process safety activities in project design and partner with Operations to ensure a robust, safe manufacturing process.
  • Ensure implementation of the most effective technology by integrating operability input from Operations, corporate and business Manufacturing Engineering Technology, and Maintenance and Reliability into project definition and design.
  • Carry accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the units supported.
  • Ensure effective interface between the manufacturing representative and plant operations to ensure technical integrity and optimum operability.
  • Provide effective communication and coordination between project teams and Operations.
  • Support project Front-End Loading activities as required.
  • Serve as the lead person for all new plant product trials.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Process Improvement Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of our innovation, responsible for implementing process and technology improvement opportunities within your technology area. This includes leading teams that evaluate improvements from the opportunity list for possible implementation and working with technology experts (Centers of Excellence) to collect data required to complete scope definition for improvement projects and activities.

In This Role, You Will:
