Job summary

SEL in Pullman, WA seeks a Process Engineering Technician to provide hands-on technical support on the floor, clarifying process requirements and resolving issues to keep production running smoothly. You will help improve yield, efficiency, and capacity across manufacturing equipment and processes.

The role involves documenting procedures, supporting tooling and process changes, and training operators and staff. Swing shift: Mon–Fri 3:00pm–11:30pm, with a focus on safety and high-quality output.

Qualifications

  • Two-year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
  • Proficient with Windows-based tools (Excel, Word, SQL) and document control.

Responsibilities

  • Provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  • Assist in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.

Process Engineering Technician

The Process Engineering Technician works closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Reliability teams to keep production running smoothly and correctly. This role provides hands‑on technical support on the floor, helping clarify process requirements, resolve issues as they arise, and ensure products are built to specification. The position plays an active role in improving yield, efficiency, and capacity across manufacturing equipment and processes. The Process Engineering Technician documents and maintains procedures, supports tooling and process changes, and helps train operators and support staff. This is a Swing Shift position Monday – Friday 3:00pm‑11:30pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Provide immediate technical support to manufacturing and clarify production process specification requirements to ensure accurate and efficient production.
  2. Assist in measuring and improving yield, efficiency, and capacity of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  3. Document, modify, and maintain manufacturing‑related procedures.
  4. Manage the procurement of assembly process tools.
  5. Train operators and support staff as needed.
  6. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
  7. Understand. Create. Simplify.
  8. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Two‑year technical degree or equivalent experience.
  • Familiarity with the manufacturing equipment relevant to the role.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Windows‑based programs such as Microsoft productivity tools (Excel, Word, SQL).
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL.
  • Negative drug test result(s).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience troubleshooting process and machinery problems.
  • Experience writing and/or conducting Design of Experiments.
  • Experience programming and maintaining automated manufacturing equipment and machinery.
  • Experience preparing materials cross‑sections for microscopic analysis.
  • Working knowledge of basic analog and digital electronics.
Physical Requirements
  • Lift and maneuver 40 pounds.
  • Pull weight from high/low shelves.
  • Reach, bend, grip, twist.
  • Sit and/or stand for at least 8 hours.
  • Fine finger dexterity.
