Job summary

Garver is seeking a Process Engineering Lead – Water/Wastewater to guide projects from concept to bid-ready documents. The role supports design of treatment processes, hydraulic analysis, and multi‑discipline coordination with regional offices and regulators.

PE license and a strong track record in water/wastewater design are required. The position is based in Atlanta, GA or Greenville, SC, with occasional site visits and collaboration across Garver’s Water/Wastewater Team.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
  • 10+ years of direct design experience in water/wastewater facilities.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • Experience with biological modeling software such as BioWin, GPS‑X, and Sumo.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a project team delivering designs for water and wastewater facilities.
  • Design water and wastewater treatment processes.
  • Develop design criteria from process modeling data.
  • Support process evaluation, selection, and implementation.
  • Perform hydraulic analysis of treatment plants.
  • Oversee construction drawings and 3D models.
  • Mentor and coordinate schedules/budgets with the Process Group Leader.

Job description

Process Engineering Lead – Water/Wastewater

Garver is seeking an experienced professional engineer (PE) to join the Water/Wastewater Team located in Atlanta, GA or Greenville, SC. The Senior Process Engineer will be responsible for leading water and wastewater projects from conceptual planning to bid ready documents. This may include facility and equipment layouts, design calculations, process modeling, equipment vendor coordination, management and coordination of support discipline activities, and coordination with regional offices and regulatory agencies, as well as performing quality reviews of other teams' designs.

Responsibilities
  • Leading a project team producing designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities and other ancillary infrastructure associated with water and wastewater projects
  • Design of water and wastewater treatment processes
  • Develop design criteria from analysis of water and wastewater process modeling data
  • Support of water and wastewater process evaluation, selection, and implementation
  • Hydraulic analysis of water and wastewater treatment plants
  • Chemical storage and feed system design
  • Blower sizing and blower system design
  • Piping and instrumentation drawing production
  • Specification and contract document preparationSupport of construction projects
  • Oversee the development of construction drawings, and 3D models
  • Assist the Process Group Leader in managing and mentoring teams, coordinating schedules, monitoring budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards.
  • Some travel may be required, as projects may require field work for site assessment of project locations and support during construction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, chemical, mechanical, or biosystems/agricultural engineering from an ABET accredited program
  • 10+ years of direct design experience of water/wastewater treatment facilities.
  • Experience with biological modeling softwares such as BioWin, GPS‑X, and Sumo.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred Attributes
  • Master's degree in civil, environmental, chemical, or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of civil, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation and control disciplines.
  • Strong communication skills as required to collaborate project designs with multi-discipline project teams
  • Active participation in local professional organizations.
  • Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word
