Noveon Magnetics in San Marcos, Texas is seeking a Process Engineering Intern to work alongside experienced engineers and the Process Engineering Manager on high-precision parts manufacturing. This hands-on role offers exposure to grinding, wire EDM, automated inspection, deburring, and coating operations, plus data collection, process mapping, and basic automation validation in a live production setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or related field (Junior or Senior standing preferred).
• Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD software (SolidWorks or AutoCAD).
• Strong mechanical curiosity and good verbal/written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process Mapping & Time Studies: conduct line-side cycle time studies and workflow mapping across grinding, wirecut, deburring, coating, and inspection cells to identify bottlenecks and capacity constraints.
• Data Collection & SPC Analysis: gather and analyze production defect, scrap, and dimensional measurement data to support Cp/Cpk studies and SPC initiatives.
• Automated Inspection Support: assist engineers in setting up, testing, and collecting GR&R data for automated vision and metrology systems.
• Documentation & Standard Work: draft and update SOPs, visual work instructions, and tooling setup sheets for shop-floor operators.
• Root Cause Problem Solving: participate in Kaizen events and assist engineers in investigating scrap events using 5-Why and Fishbone analyses.
