Job summary

Commercial Metals Company seeks motivated engineering interns in Seguin, TX to learn hands-on skills across recycling centers, fabrication plants, and facilities. You’ll gain practical experience through real projects, guided by industry professionals, and contribute to ongoing process improvements.

You’ll work closely with teams to identify cost-saving opportunities, document results, and present findings at internship end, while supporting safety programs and a culture of collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Interest in Industrial Engineering Technologies and enrollment at Junior/Senior level
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including 40 hour weeks in summer (June–August)
  • Strong self-motivation with minimal supervision and drive for results
  • Knowledge of Windows and engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Understanding ISO work instructions and standard operating practices

Responsibilities

  • Cross-train through departments to learn hands-on skills in industrial/engineering tech
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities by evaluating processes, quality, and safety improvements
  • Collaborate with the CMC Team on process improvement initiatives and projects
  • Prepare a presentation/report on an improvement project at internship end
  • Troubleshoot work-related problems using knowledge and communication with others
  • Participate in CMC Safety Programs and uphold CMC Safety Culture

What You’ll Do
  • Cross-train through the department to learn hands-on skills related to industrial/engineering technologies

What You’ll Need
  • Must possess a strong interest in Industrial Engineering Technologies and be enrolled at Junior/Senior level education
  • Able to work a flexible schedule to include 40 hour work weeks during summer (June-August)
  • Able to work independently, take initiative and drive for results with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of processes in Microsoft windows, engineering software such as Auto CAD and Solid Works
  • Ability to understand and apply ISO work instructions and standard operating practices and procedures
  • Ability to work with exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Push and pull up to 90 lbs and carry 50 lbs
  • Strong communication skills required. Must read, speak and understand English language in verbal and written communication
  • Previous internship experiences preferred
Your Education
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited university program pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field at time of internship (Junior level or higher preferred)
  • High School Diploma or GED required
