Job summary

Davies Engineering Group in Cincinnati, OH is seeking a Process Engineering Co-Op for Spring 2027. This role offers hands-on experience with our seasoned engineers on meaningful projects for industrial clients, from concept to field work.

You will assist in design tasks, 3D modeling, load calculations, and site visits, gaining exposure to 2D/3D CAD tools, code considerations, and construction support in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Completed first two years toward BS chemical engineering degree.
• Coursework in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.
• Strong computer skills: AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks.
• Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and research design issues.
• Curiosity to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Assist project engineers with specific design tasks.
• Assist in concept development, design and analysis for projects.
• Visit project sites to determine existing conditions and perform field services.
• Use 3D scanner to create 3D model of equipment or a facility.
• Perform heating, cooling and ventilation load calculations.
• Perform mass and energy balances.
• Make preliminary equipment selections using manufacturers' information.
• Prepare designs and details using 2D and 3D AutoCAD including piping and HVAC design, layout and sizing tasks.
• Review technical specifications.
• Prepare preliminary construction cost estimates.
• Research/learn mechanical/electrical code issues and construction methods.
• Research/learn quality control procedures.
• Exposure to construction administration.
• Attend project meetings.

Davies Engineering Group is looking for a Process Engineering co-op. This student will work alongside our seasoned engineers, completing meaningful work for our industrial clients.

Qualifications:

• Completed first two years toward BS chemical engineering degree
• Completed coursework in thermodynamics and fluid dynamics
• Strong computer skills including experience with AutoCAD/Revit/Solidworks
• Excellent critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and research design issues with available resources
• Curiosity to learn and grow

Co-ops will work with project engineers or designers as part of project specific teams. Team size varies depending on project size and complexity. Co-ops/interns will be exposed to many aspects of the design process including:
