Job summary

Actalent is seeking a hands-on Process Engineering Associate to support manufacturing projects in a regulated medical device environment. Based in Austin, TX, this contract-to-hire role offers a $30.00–$42.00/hr pay range and on-site work with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience assembling, setting up, maintaining, or troubleshooting manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, assembly, components, or hookups.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in regulated medical device/pharma industries.
  • Experience with IQ/EQ validation protocols (IQ/EQ).
  • SolidWorks experience.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Process Engineering Associate
Job Description

We are seeking a hands‑on Process Engineers to support manufacturing engineering projects, equipment setup, process validation, and production expansion within a regulated medical device environment. The primary project involves duplicating and setting up manufacturing equipment stations in the company’s mass‑finishing area. The technician will work from established drawings and electrical schematics to assemble equipment, build and wire electrical control boxes, connect components, and prepare stations for initial qualification. An engineer and experienced technician will provide training and technical direction, but the selected candidate should be able to learn quickly and execute repetitive technical work independently once trained.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble and duplicate manufacturing equipment stations using established designs, drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
  • Build and wire electrical boxes, including mounting components, preparing enclosures, drilling or cutting required openings, and completing component hookups.
  • Perform repetitive electrical assembly and point-to-point wiring with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support equipment installation, setup, testing, and implementation for new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Execute approved Installation Qualification and Equipment Qualification activities under engineering guidance.
  • Document qualification results accurately and follow established procedures within a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of manufacturing processes.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, assembly instructions, and technical documentation.
  • Assemble mechanical and electrical equipment according to documented requirements.
  • Troubleshoot basic equipment, wiring, component, and process issues; elevate more complex problems to engineering.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance to support consistent manufacturing output.
  • Fabricate or modify simple tools, fixtures, gauges, and prototype components as needed.
  • Order standard parts and components through supplier catalogs using the appropriate project or task account.
  • Develop an understanding of the manufacturing process so equipment decisions and modifications align with process requirements.
  • Ask questions, identify missing information, and communicate proactively when instructions or technical requirements are unclear.
  • Support additional engineering or equipment-related projects based on business needs and individual technical capabilities.
Essential Skills
  • Hands‑on experience assembling, setting up, maintaining, or troubleshooting manufacturing or industrial equipment.
  • Experience with electrical wiring, electrical assembly, electronic components, or equipment hookups.
  • Ability to read or learn to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Experience in a regulated industry such as medical device, med tech, pharma.
  • Experience executing equipment or process validation protocols, particularly Installation Qualification (IQ) and Equipment Qualification (EQ).
  • SolidWorks experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate degree, technical certification, or bachelor’s degree in a relevant area.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $42.00/hr.
