ADM Nutrition division is seeking a Process Engineer to provide process engineering and capital project management at the Florida Chemical Company in Winter Haven, FL. You will support the location's process engineering needs and oversee capital projects through front-end loading phases, improving reliability, yields, and operability.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and 3–5 years of related project/ process engineering experience in manufacturing.

Position Summary

ADM Nutrition division is seeking a Process Engineer to provide process engineering and capital project management to improve its operations at the Florida Chemical Company located in Winter Haven, FL. They will provide the locations process engineering support and oversee the design and implementation of capital projects as required. This includes identifying & evaluating project opportunities; requesting authorization for projects; as well as managing a broad range including capital projects thru phases of ADM's Front End Loading(Phase/Gate) process. This person will have the opportunity to utilize engineering skills to improve operations processes including reliability, yields, and operability.

This is an exempt level position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with technical community (Centers of Excellence) within to provide process engineering support as needed to develop, sustain quality products to our customers
  • Ensure stewardship of viable capital projects from inception thru validation
  • Effective management of personnel and resources to balance schedules, budgets, and scope/quality of projects under the guidance of the Capital Center of Excellence depending on the dollar value of the projects.
  • Provide oversight of equipment and contractor personnel during the course of project by working in the field on a daily basis
  • Written and verbal communication of project activities and key metrics shall be provided to managers and other stakeholders
  • Develop requests for proposals, equipment sizing, equipment utility lists, detail P&ID’s, and other front end engineering tasks
  • Proactively participate in safety, environmental, quality, and production processes in order to ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Maintain an awareness of industry trends and investigate the means by which projects can be improved, implemented, and managed - this includes capturing lessons learned and developing best practices ensuring compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or related discipline
  • Ideal candidate has 3-5 year of relevant project/process engineering experience working with manufacturing processes used for extraction/distillation of citrus compounds
  • Must be able to apply engineering competencies to practical real world situations
  • General knowledge of codes, relevant standards, and materials/metallurgy related to processing equipment
  • Knowledge of industrial chemical plant processes and related systems such as: pressure vessels, piping, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, utilities, and other unit operations is desired
  • Strong leadership, management, and interpersonal skills are necessary to be a valued colleague in this facility. Interpersonal skills employed include handling conflict, motivating personnel, as well as instructing and training personnel. The candidate must be able to effectively interact with multiple employees and managers.   • The candidate must be able to continuously improve utilizing independent judgment to solve problems and have excellent organizational skills in order to effectively handle multiple ongoing tasks.

  • Excellent communication skills – both oral and detailed written are needed to be effective in this position.
  • General knowledge of software systems such as Maximo, Microsoft Office applications (Project, Excel, Word, and SharePoint), and AutoCAD.
Physical Demands
  • Employee will work in plant environment and is expected to initiate work based on general instructions from management.
  • The physical requirements of the job requires ability to climb stairs, lift 50 pounds, prolonged periods of standing and sitting, computer work, working in confined spaces and from heights, bending, kneeling, working adjusted hours, and working as instructed.
  • Prompt attendance is a must.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.

If hired, employees will be in an "at-will" position and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

The pay range for this position is expected to be between:

$72,900.00 - $136,200.00

Salaried Incentive Plan

The total compensation package for this position will also include annual bonus
