Job summary

Wolfspeed’s Global Operations team in Durham, NC is seeking a Process Engineer to join the SiC manufacturing network. You will collaborate with the Equipment and Process Engineering teams to execute high-volume processes and drive improvements across manufacturing lines.

The role focuses on grinding and surface finishing, process safety, quality, and cost reduction, with opportunities to implement new equipment and optimize maintenance practices across platforms.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or related field required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for equipment and processes.
• Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Ability to manage change and implement solutions.

Responsibilities

• Resolve daily manufacturing priorities with Operations to keep lines running.
• Drive projects for safety, quality, throughput, and cost reduction.
• Own Grinding and Surface Finishing processes of Silicon Carbide (SiC) wafers.
• Improve processes across new and existing platforms.
• Monitor OOC conditions on multiple lines and toolsets.
• Optimize preventative maintenance procedures.
• Document best-known methods for areas of ownership.
• Create and maintain manufacturing documents and procedures.
• Facilitate installation of new manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain schedule to meet qualifications and project goals.
• Provide sustaining support and troubleshoot day-to-day issues.

Here’s the Gist:

Wolfspeed’s Global Operations team is seeking a Process Engineer with a proven track record of successful execution in a high-volume manufacturing environment. This position will work directly with the Equipment and Process Engineering teams in our Silicon Carbide (SiC) Global Operations manufacturing team located at the Corporate Headquarters in Durham, NC.

The Day-to-Day:

• Work with Operations team to resolve daily priorities as needed to support manufacturing
• Drive project initiatives forward in support of process safety, quality, throughput, and low cost
• Own the Grinding and Surface Finishing processes of Silicon Carbide (SiC) wafers
• Continuous improvement across many new and existing platforms and processes
• Monitor and respond to all OOC conditions on multiple product lines and toolsets
• Optimize preventative maintenance procedures
• Document best known methods across areas of ownership
• Create and maintain manufacturing documents and procedures as necessary
• Facilitate and oversee the install of new manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain schedule to meet overall qualifications and project goals
• Sustaining support, troubleshooting, equipment acceptance and resolving technical issues that may arise in day to day manufacturing

This Job is Right for You if You Have (Minimum Requirements):

• BS Degree in Engineering with either Process Engineering, internship, Co-op, or industry experience
• Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to support critical tool issues in a manufacturing environment,
• Equipment and process troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to rapidly learn new processes and toolsets
• Ability to identify process improvements, manage change, and implement solutions
• Excellent written and verbal communication skillsMust have a positive, professional, energetic, can-do attitude
• Understanding and experience with Statistical Process Control
• Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to identify manufacturing improvements, manage change, and implement solutions
