Job summary

Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, a member of the Johnson & Johnson family, located in Jacksonville, FL, is seeking a Packaging Process Engineer to lead moderately complex change control projects and equipment qualifications. This role will collaborate with safety, quality, and other engineering teams to ensure compliant packaging processes.

The candidate will train and support Packaging Operations Operators and Technicians, address CAPA actions, and drive continuous improvement in packaging

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field required
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Experience in manufacturing, packaging, and change control projects

Responsibilities

Plan and execute moderately complex change control projects
Qualify new equipment, controls, and assist in vendor/site testing
Participate in technical design reviews for machine requirements and specs
Provide training and support Packaging Operations Engineers/Technicians
Identify and resolve CAPA actions to address quality and manufacturing issues
Collaborate cross-functionally with safety, quality, and other engineering disciplines

Key Responsibilities:

Plans and execute moderately complex change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design, and validation.
Plans and executes moderately complex qualifications of new equipment, controls and assists in vendor and site acceptance testing to meet engineering standards.
Identifies and implements standard methodologies of project management.
Participate in technical design reviews for machine requirements and manufacturing/product specifications.
Provides training and support Packaging Operations Operators, Engineers and Technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
Identification and resolution of Corrective/Preventative actions to address Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing issues (Audit Actions, NCR’s, CAPA’s, etc.).
Utilizes cross functional collaboration with safety, quality, other engineering disciplines, and operations to meet business objectives.
Serves as a change agent by creating a learning culture and experimental mindset within the department and organization to improve business performance.

Qualifications Education:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent University degree is required; a focused degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

Relevant professional work experience
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to work in an empowered work team environment

Preferred:

Experience in Systems Engineering fundamentals.
Operations experience in manufacturing, packaging / repackaging, production supervision, front‑line leading in change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design and validation of packaging processes, workflows, equipment and products.
Identifies and implements improvements in data analytics and reporting in collaboration with the OT Engineering group; standard methodologies of project management.
Experience collaborating with vendors to select, source, quote, and procure off the shelf and custom designed components.
Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.

Other:

May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other sites and locations.
