Johnson & Johnson Vision Care in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Packaging Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team.

This role focuses on planning, change control, qualifications, and process improvements for packaging systems, with opportunities to collaborate across safety, quality, and operations. Based in Jacksonville, it supports world-class eye care products and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Experience in packaging/ manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in Systems Engineering fundamentals.
  • Experience in ISO and FDA regulated environment.
  • Vendor collaboration experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes moderately complex change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design, and validation.
  • Plans and executes moderately complex qualifications of new equipment, controls and assists in vendor and site acceptance testing to meet engineering standards.
  • Identifies and implements standard methodologies of project management. Participate in technical design reviews for machine requirements and manufacturing/product specifications.
  • Provides training and support Packaging Operations Operators, Engineers and Technicians to operate, troubleshoot and maintain equipment.
  • Identification and resolution of Corrective/Preventative actions to address Quality, Technical, and Manufacturing issues (Audit Actions, NCRs, CAPAs, etc.).
  • Utilizes cross functional collaboration with safety, quality, other engineering disciplines, and operations to meet business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plans and execute moderately complex change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design, and validation.

  • Utilizes cross functional collaboration with safety, quality, other engineering disciplines, and operations to meet business objectives. Serves as a change agent by creating a learning culture and experimental mindset within the department and organization to improve business performance.
Qualifications

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent University degree is required; a focused degree in Engineering or a related field preferred.

Experience And Skills

Required:

  • Relevant professional work experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work in an empowered work team environment

Preferred

  • Experience in Systems Engineering fundamentals.
  • Operations experience in manufacturing, packaging / repackaging, production supervision, front-line leading in change control projects requiring conceptual evaluation, design and validation of packaging processes, workflows, equipment and products.
  • Identifies and implements improvements in data analytics and reporting in collaboration with the OT Engineering group; standard methodologies of project management.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors to select, source, quote, and procure off the shelf and custom designed components.
  • Experience working in an ISO and FDA regulated environment.
Other
  • May require up to 10% domestic and/or international travel to other sites and locations.
