Job summary

Cupertino Electric, Inc. is seeking a Process Engineer for modular data center projects in Salt Lake City, UT. You will develop, implement and optimize manufacturing processes to improve safety, quality, efficiency and productivity.

The role supports new product development, conducts capacity studies, and coordinates with cross-functional teams and vendors to meet specifications while ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. This position may involve travel to vendor sites.

Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in mechanical, structural, or industrial engineering and 2–5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Strong ability to design, analyze and optimize manufacturing processes for safety, quality, efficiency and throughput.
  • Experience with plant layouts, work instructions, and capacity planning is a plus.

Salary Range: $106,500 to $140,000

  • This position is eligible for the annual performance bonus plan.

Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience. About The Role

The Process Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving manufacturing processes to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity. This role supports new product development and launches, evaluates existing processes and equipment, conducts capacity and labor planning studies, and recommends improvements to optimize workflow, material flow, tooling, and throughput. The Process Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams and vendors to establish product and process specifications, develop work instructions, design plant layouts and 3D facility models, coordinate equipment maintenance activities, estimate production requirements and costs, and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory and safety standards while supporting current and future manufacturing needs.

  • Participate in new product design
  • Evaluate current process and make recommendations for improvements
  • Perform capacity studies to better interpret future or changing needs
  • Ensure the manufacturing processes and facilities are in compliance with all government laws and regulations.
  • Assist with labor planning, material flows, and review schedules and understand future requirements to assist in planning
  • Examine and plan workflow, equipment placement and space requirements to improve efficiency.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair services to ensure CEI's procedures are followed. This keeps equipment safe and operational.
  • Plant layouts and 3D plant modeling
  • Participate in new product development and launch
  • Assist with the writing of work instructions
  • Review current tooling and processes and recommend changes to better throughput
  • Work with internal teams and vendors to establish product and process specifications.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs
  • Travel approximately 10% of the time to vendors or other sites
About You
  • Metal Fabrication and Welding a plus
  • Self motivated possess an aggressive work ethic.
  • Willingness to overtime as required
  • Have exceptional attendance.
  • Office and assembling area setting
  • Traveling to vendors which may be loud and/or dirty
  • May be required to sit/stand at desk/computer, and/or walk the production floor for extended time
  • May be required to work on job site in all kind of weather
  • Hard Hat, Gloves, Safety Glasses and appropriate foot ware (supplier or job site-Safety toe)
  • Office and plant setting
  • Sitting/Standing/walking for extended times
  • Lifting 25lbs not uncommon
Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Degree in mechanical, structural, or industrial engineering.

Licensure/Certifications: n/a

Experience: 2 to 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
