Fuchs Lubricants Co. is seeking a Process Engineer in Fairhaven, MA to provide hands-on engineering support on the manufacturing floor for batch processing, mixing, and packaging.

You will observe processes, collect data, and identify opportunities for improvement while collaborating with operations and cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes troubleshooting, data analysis, and developing practical recommendations.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with batch processes, production troubleshooting, and process improvement.
• Ability to collect data from manufacturing operations and translate into practical recommendations.
• Familiarity with process documentation, batch records, and change control procedures.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on, day-to-day engineering support on the manufacturing floor for batch processing, mixing, heating, cooling, material addition, transfer, filtration, filling, packaging, and related manufacturing operations.
• Observe production processes, talk with operators, collect data, review batch records, and identify abnormalities and improvement opportunities.
• Troubleshoot production problems involving deviations, long cycle times, quality issues, yield losses, rework, and equipment interactions with cross-functional teams.
• Support and execute engineering, R&D, commercialization, and scale-up batches, including pre-batch planning and post-batch analysis.
• Collect and analyze process data such as temperature profiles, mixing times, material-addition sequences, processing times, yields, and equipment conditions.
• Execute continuous-improvement activities to reduce cycle time, variability, waste, and rework while improving first-pass yield.
• Support root cause investigations, CAPA, nonconformances, and recurring issues using data-based analysis.
• Assist evaluation and optimization of mixers, tanks, pumps, piping, heating/cooling, filtration, and transfer systems with Maintenance and Equipment Engineering.
• Support scale-up and commercialization of new products and process changes from lab to production.
• Develop and update batch instructions, SOPs, process specs, trial summaries, and other controlled docs.
• Prepare and update PFDs and P&IDs, support Engineering Change Orders, and maintain records.
